Procedure for HS 1P (9/2/10)
Objectives: 1) Students will learn to write simple Chinese characters. 2) Students will continue to learn more basic greeting terms.
Homework: 1) Complete writing assignment. 2) Review all learned terms.
Procedure:
- 1) Pass out homework passes to students whose parent(s) attended open house last night. 2) Supplies are due for checking tomorrow.
- Dictation (tones, pinyin): review all learned terms on dry erase board.
- Write Chinese characters (山, 火, 木).
- Practice chopsticks.
- DVD: Why Chinese and why now.
- Learn basic greeting term (Qi Li).
Procedure for HS 2P (9/2/10)
Objectives: 1) Students will review ways of saying money. 2) Students will learn phrases that explain reasons.
Homework: 1) Study review materials. 2) Complete character writing assignment.
Procedure:
- 1) Pass out homework passes to students whose parent(s) attended open house last night. 2) Supplies are due for checking tomorrow.
- Bell work: Write down expressions to tell the following time.
- Listening comprehension (dates). Go over the answers.
- Teach new characters (因, 為, 所, 以). Make sentences
- Review ways of saying money.
Procedure for HS 9P (9/2/10)
Objectives: 1) Students will polish their listening skill by reviewing two audio files. 2) Students will be able to tell weekdays, date and know various terms for days proficiently and accurately.
Homework: Review all terms (weekdays, date format—year/month/day/weekdays, different phrase of days—大前天 / 前天 / 昨天 / 今天 / 明天 / 後天 / 大後天)
Procedure:
- 1) Turn in your homework (calendar worksheet). 2) Jay Rose, Michaela Romito, and Claire Savage sign on textbook inventory sheet, please. 3) Pass out homework passes to students whose parents attended open house last night. 4) Supplies are due for checking tomorrow.
- Listening comprehension: two audio files. Check answers.
- Pair activity: Speaking practice (今天是…, 昨天是…, 明天是…, 前天是…, 後天是…, 大前天是…, 大後天是…..). Practice reading from a calendar on the board.

- Teach new terms (Qi Li, Jing Li, Zuo Xia, Qing Zuo).
- Write Chinese characters (山, 火, 木, 人).
- DVD: Why Chinese and why now.
- PPT: Chinese class activities.
- Pair activity: Complete reading packet.
Procedure for MS 5P (9/2/10)
Objectives: 1) Students will learn to write simple Chinese characters. 2) Students will continue to learn more basic greeting terms.
Homework: Review all learned terms.
Procedure:
- Supplies are due for check tomorrow.
- Dictation on dry erase board.
- Finish up basic greeting terms (Qi Li, Jing Li, Zuo Xia, Qing Zuo, Tong Xue Men Hao).
- DVD/video clip: Why Chinese and why now Zhong Guo Hua.
- PPT: Chinese class activities.
