Procedures and Homework Assignments for 10/14/08

Procedure for HS 1P (10/14/08)

 

Objectives: Students will be able to tell dates, ask/answer questions about dates, and get permissions. 

Procedure:

1.      1) Meet at cafeteria on Thursday; dress very casually (paint & ink!!).  2) Quiz part II next Tuesday (10/21—writing and comprehension; same format from workbook F, G, & H and textbook p.1-8).  3) Ms. Chang won’t be available after school this afternoon due to a staff meeting at 2:30.

2.      Quiz Part I. 

3.      Listen to CD (texbook p1-8).   

 

H/W: 1) Workbook sections F, G, & H.  Check/go over on 10/20.  2) Make sure you can write all sentences in pages 1-4.

 

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (10/14/08)

 

Objectives: Students will be able to say/write math operators (+, −, ×, ÷, =) in Chinese characters. 

Procedure:

1.  1) Meet at cafeteria on Thursday.  Dress very casually (paint & ink!!).  2) Quiz part II next Tuesday (10/21-math expressions).  3) Ms. Chang won’t be available after school this afternoon due to a staff meeting at 2:30.

2.   Quiz Part I.

3.  Pair activity: flash cards.  Make sure you can say and write in Chinese. 

4.  Read textbook p.20.   

 

H/W: 1) Review/memorize Chinese characters for all math operators.  2) Workbook Sections K.  

Check/go over next Monday (10/20).  

 

 

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (10/14)

 

Objectives: 1) Students learn the basic greetings.  2) Students will know Ms. Chang’s Grading Policy and classroom philosophy. 

Procedures:

1.      Greet students at the door. 

2.   Collect signature slips, if any. 

3.   Pass out and go over Grading Policy/Index Cards handout/Poem “Don’t Laugh at Me”. 

4.   Teach/Review five terms from yesterday—TPR (你好, 我是…, 你是…, 張老師, 再見).  Draw students randomly for informal assessment. Zhāng lǎo shī張老師 (Ms. Chang); Zài Jiàn再見 Good-bye)).  Explain tone marks and simple rules. 

2.      Class activity: 1) Throw a ball to practice我是…, 你是….  2) Build community activity.  Students take turns saying我是…, 你是… and one sentence to introduce themselves in English.

5.      Chopsticks practice (Cheerios cereal–3P only). 

 

H/W: 1) Return classroom rule signature slip by tomorrow.  2) Make index cards tonight.
