Procedures and Homework Assignments for 11/25/08

Procedure for HS 1P (11/25/08)

Objective: For two days, students will present their cultural project on various topics.

Procedure:

  1. Follow your presentation order to do your oral presentation. Turn in your 2-page hard copy, please.
  2. Please check View Finder to make sure your grades are all correct.

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (11/25/08)

Objective: Students will gain some interesting knowledge about Chinese martial arts through a action-packed movie “Chop Socky”

H/W: practice writing your Chinese name.

Procedure:

1. 1) Go over quiz for input.  2) Review after quiz (study strategies).  3) Pass back all homework papers.

Procedure for HS 1P (11/24/08)

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (11/24/08)

Objective: Students will complete a art project by drawing pictures with 10 Chinese terms (a theme) on index cards or on a 9 by 11 paper.

Procedure:

1) Please check your grades on Progress Book. 2) Art project. Collect at the end of the class.

Procedure for HS 1P (11/19/08)

Objectives: Students will review 1) ways to describe daily routine and 2) ways to state one’s birthday, and 3) terms of various sports.

H/W: Prepare your project.

Procedure:

1. Project due next Monday/Tuesday. You are welcome to have it earlier (Friday) for bonus points.

2. Pair activity 1) Daily routine. 2) Whose’s birthday is it?

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to demonstrate their mastery of simple vowels and consonants. 2) Students will through practicing on workbook and reading textbook.

H/W: workbook pages 23-26/Sections B-E, and textbook pages 26-31, if not completed in class.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your H/W. 2) Bring in your workbook to listen to CD tomorrow. 3) Quiz on Lesson 4 next Monday.

2. Oral quiz.

Two assignments for the rest of the class: 1) workbook pages 23-26/Sections B-E, and 2) textbook pages 26-31. They are your homework for tonight, if not completed in class.

1.  Finish skits.

2.  Introduce a website with online tools for computer keyboard input (Chinese characters).

Procedure for HS 2P/9P  (11/18)

1.  1) Turn in your H/W and take another copy for tonight (or write on an old one).  2) Oral quiz tomorrow.  3) Quin on Lesson 4 next Tuesday.

3.  Read textbook pages 23-24 twice.

4.  Model 3 new characters (xie, jin, nian).

5.  Introduce a software package for reviewing stroke order, conversation, and pronunciation.

Procedure for HS 1P (11/17/08)

Objective: Students will perform a skit and use action words to describe their daily routine, hobbies and disclose information of their birthday.

H/W: Preview Lesson 3.

Objectives: 1) Students will identify someone, state his/her age, and welcome the person. 2) Students will acquire the knowledge of Chinese attitude towards age and the Chinese customs for celebrating birthdays.

H/W: 1) 3 new characters (one row each). 2) Read ReviewSounds #1.

Procedure:

1. 1) Oral quiz this Wednesday. 2) Quiz on Lesson 4 next Monday/Tuesday (?)

2. Informal assessment of 7 characters. Practice on dry erase board.

Procedure:

2. Informal assessment on dry erase board.

MS 3P/5P (11/13/08)

Procedure:

1. 1) Review 9 colors. 2) Informal assessment.

2. Go over sports handout. Extra sports terms required?

3. Write down three sentences about preferences. Review 4 sentences (my address, my preferences about colors, pets, and sports). Collect as a participation grade.

4. Pass out finger-guessing game handout (rock, paper, scissors). Practice.

H/W: memorize last 2 colors. Quiz next Monday

H/W: review all action words, ways to tell time, and way to describe daily routine.

Procedure:

1.                  Listening to CD.  (Sections A => C => D => I on pages 9, 11, 12, and 17).  Ask for Section I written slip of the dialogue. 

2.                  Check answer key to sections D/I.

3.                  Matching activity.

4.                   Review sample questions.

6.                  Go over possible topics for cultural project.
