Procedures and Homework Assignments for 12/2/08

Procedure for HS 1P (12/2/08)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to acquire terms for directions, to state their home environment (dwelling, rooms, and furniture) with direction terms. 2) Students will be able to describe the condition and relative position of things.

H/W: 1) Read Lesson 3 page 29. 2) One row for each new character.

Procedure:

1. Cultural Project (Don).

2. Introduce newly arrived resources. Check them out, please.

3. Previewing Lesson 3/Study Strategies.

4. Read page 29 as a class.

5. Model new characters “, , ,

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (12/2/08)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to sight read sentences noted in Hanyu Pinyin. 2) Students will be able to identify terms for school supplies and inquire possessions of certain objects.

H/W: 1) Practice reading Review Sounds #2 #6-#10. 2) One row for each new character.

Procedure:

1. 1) Informal assessment. Random drawing for reading the sentences. 2) Write your Chinese name on dry erase board.

2. Introduce newly arrived resources (2P only).

3. Read Review Sounds #2 sentences #1 to #5 as a class. Continue to read sentences #6 to #10 as a class.

4. Take turns introducing everyone’s Chinese name (9P only). Practice.

5. Model new characters “, , , , ” (2P had the first 4 characters only).

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (12/2/08)

1.  Collect signature slip.  Check H/W: index cards.

2.  Copy notes.

3.  Go over “Do Not Laugh at Me” poem (3P only).

4.  Teach 4 new terms for greetings and tone marks.  Pair practice / Group activity.

H/W: 1) Memorize 4 terms.  2) Bring in your scissors for tomorrow.
