Procedures and Homework Assignments for 2/6/09

Procedure for HS 1P (2/6/09)

Objective: Students will learn sentence patterns that ask people where some items are.

功課: 1) 生字 (shēngzì) 一行 (yīháng). 2) Practice reading text page 46.

Procedure:

1. Informal assessment. Try all 11 colors.

2. Dictation. Try on dry erase board.

3. Model new characters (, , , , ) w/enrichmnt (自己, 自動, 自我, <=> 已經, 好像 1) seems like—這個好像是我的; 2) look alike—他們長得好像; 旁邊, 旁白, 襪子).

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (2/6/09)

Objective: Students will solidify their fluency of descriptive words and terms about pets through various learning activities.

功課: 1) 生字 (shēngzì) 一行 (yīháng). 2) Practice reading lesson 7 text.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your character H/W (2P only). Take one handout. 2) Oral quiz next Monday (pick out 2 passages from pages 54-56). 3) Expand your paragraph by adding your family pets. Due next Tuesday. 4) Continue the scheduling consultation. Last day to sign.

2. Dictation. Try on dry erase board.

3. Listen to CD (textbook pages 54-62 for 2P; textbook page 62 for 9P students).

4. Practice reading text (pairs or individual) pages 54-56.

5. Read pages 63-65 as a class (9P only).

6. Go over handout sample sentence substitution (9P only).

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (2/6/09)

Objectives: Students will be fluent in count numbers from 0-100.

H/W: memorize all 11 terms (pinyin, meaning, characters).

Procedure:

1. Quiz #2 next Monday.

2. Informal assessment (numbers 7-10, 100, 0)—sounds, meanings and characters.

3. Practice counting 1-50 as a class.

4. Show and tell: Chinese publications (5P only).

5. Pair activity—search Chinese characters in newspaper. Collect at the end of the class.

6. Tangram pieces, if time allows.
