Procedures and Homework Assignments for 3/13/09

HS 1P/2P/9P:

Objective: Students will learning study techniques and OSU Flagship program through Dr. McAloon’s presentation.

H/W: 1P: Read textbook pages 55-59.  2P/9P: Familiarize yourself with all 8 sports terms (sounds, meanings, and characters.)

Procedure:

Presentation given by Dr. McAloon from OSU.

MS 3P/5P

Objectives: 1) Students will gain knowledge about Chinese Zodiac system.  2) Students will start unit #2: Numbers.

H/W: Study Unit #1 Basic Greetings for quiz on 3/16/09.

Procedure:

1.  Informal Assessment.

2.  Quiz in pairs.

3.  Pass out the unit 2/3 handout.  Teach new terms (numbers 1-10).  Take notes and pair practice.

4.  Pass out the Chinese Zodiac handout and zodiac placement.  Explain the symbols and folk tales.

Procedure:

  2. Go over Grading Policy as a class.
  3. Continue to teach terms of tone marks and Pinyin. Take notes. Pair practice.

Procedure for HS 1P (3/9/09)

Objective: Students will 1) share what they did over the weekend, 2) review learned terms through a hunting game, and 3) learn new characters.

Procedure:
1.    1) Study “Learn the Sentences” section in the textbook and workbook pages for your quiz.  2) For future PowerPoint presentation, submit your file before class begins on the due date.  3) For future audacity oral quiz, listen to your own recording before you drop your file(s) into Ms. Chang’s folder.  4) Check Ms. Chang’s website for daily procedure if you need to be absent for any particular day.  5) Ms. Chang won’t be available tomorrow afternoon due to a staff meeting.

Objectives: 1) Students and teacher will get to know one another.  2) Students will learn basic tone marks, greeting terms, etc.

Procedure:

1.  Pass out Ms. Chang’s Classroom Rules.  Go over the handout as a class.

2.  Self-Introduction.

3.  Pass out Chinese Hanyu Piniyin and Basic Greetings handouts.

4.  Go over the handouts partially.

5.  Teach two terms (Ni Hao and Zai Jiang)–How are you and Good bye.

6.  Pass out the Student Inventory as H/W tonight.

1. 1) Collect all semester writing section papers. 2) Return your pen pal letters, if necessary. Fix the mistakes and submit two copies again. 3) Tyler, Marissa, Jim, Christina & Candace make an appointment w/Ms. Chang for audacity recording. No grades for you so far!!
