Procedure for HS 1P (3/20/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to learn characters in lesson 5. 2) Students will read text passages fluently.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return papers. 2) Turn in your missed work.
  2. Learn new characters (, , , , ).
  3. Read text pages 60-61.
  4. Review fruit terms (shopping basket).

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (3/20/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will have a chance to review the story of Chinese characters. 2) Students will finish up new characters in lesson 9.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return papers. 2) Turn in your missed work.

2. Learn new characters (, , , , ).

3. Watch a video “Chinese character for Horse” to review the origin of Chinese characters.

Procedure for MS 3P (3/20/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will gain cultural/historical knowledge through a reading activity. 2) Students will prepare flash cards for unit #4.

H/W: Memorize all 10 numbers.

Procedure:

1. Pass out the cultural reading packet. Read the passages about Chinese school system, housing, and the history of Chinese immigrants.

2. Pass out 11 pairs of colored strips for students to make 11 flash cards for unit #4.

3. Play fist guessing game, “Rock, Scissors, and Paper,”

4. Practice chopsticks with Cheerios, if time allows.


Procedure for MS 5P (3/20/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will gain cultural knowledge through a DVD viewing session. 2) Students will learn Chinese characters 6-10 and 100 and number 100.

H/W: Memorize all numbers 1-10 and 100 and Chinese characters for 1-10 and 100.

Procedure:

1. 1) Review numbers 6-10. 2) Unit #2 on 3/26.

2. Teach number 100 and Chinese characters for 6-10 and 100. Pair practice.

3. Pair quiz for numbers and characters.

4. DVD viewing session: “Chinese calligraphy, Chinaware, …”
