Procedure for HS 1P (4/8/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will have the ability to hold a basic conversation when visiting a Chinese family. 2) Students will read background information about The Joy Luck Club to prepare for future activities.

Objectives: 1) Students will learn body parts and descriptive words to describe physical appearance. 2) 2) Students will read background information about The Joy Luck Club to prepare for future activities.

  1. 1) Collect permission slip. 2) Return your H/W papers. 3) Take one copy of body parts handout.
  2. Learn new characters (, , , , ).
  3. Activity time: 1) Make sentences: Describe physical appearance with descriptive words. 2) Make sentences to talk about yourself (passing a ball to take turns).

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (4/8/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will learn body parts for game and song. 2) Students will review art project samples for their project ideas. 3) Students will complete their oral presentation draft and practice their oral presentation.

H/W: N/A

Procedure:

1. 1) Makeup test? 2) Makeup work? 3) Pass back/collect quiz papers.

2. (3P only) Complete the last three sentences. Collect.

3. Showcase art project samples for ideas.

4. Pass out the body parts handout. Go over the terms.

5. Introduce “Head, shoulder, knees, and toe” song and “Who’s the leader?” game.

Procedure for HS 1P/2P/9P (4/7/09)

Objective: Students will do research work to build background knowledge about Amy Tan and the Three Gorges Dam at the media center.

H/W: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Collect permission slips, if any. 2) Return H/W papers. 3) Check your grades, if you have makeup work/test. 4) Turn in your characters H/W. 5) Some students need to make an appointment for make up work.
  2. Pass out worksheet for your research work.
  3. Research time. Collect the worksheet at the end of the class.

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (4/7/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will show their mastery of unit #4 today. 2) Students will get ideas of what they may do for their art project after reviewing samples art projects from previous groups.

3. (3P) 1) Review cook books. 2) Show and tell: art project samples.

We miss you. Talk to Ms. Chang to make arrangements of your makeup work.

Procedure for HS 1P (4/2/09)

Objective: Students will demonstrate their oral fluency in Lesson 5 text passages through the Audacity recording.

功課: Study Lesson 5 for quiz tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. Draw two sticks for the passages to record.
  2. Turn in your permission slip.
  3. Need any Audacity Instruction sheet? Need Lesson 5 text passage sheet? Talk to Ms. Chang.—No textbook is used while you record. Check your own recording before you submit.
  4. If you’re done, try the websites specified by Ms. Chang. No other websites are allowed!

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (4/2/09)

Objective: Students will demonstrate their oral fluency in Lesson 9 text passages through the Audacity recording.

功課: Crossword puzzle due tomorrow.

Procedure:

1. Draw one stick for the passage to record. Either (1 and 2) or (1 and 3).

2. Turn in your permission slip.

3. Need any Audacity Instruction sheet? Need Lesson 9 text passage sheet?—No textbook is used while you record. Check your own recording before you submit.

4. If you’re done, try the websites specified by Ms. Chang. No other websites are allowed!

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (4/2/09)

Objective: Students will start unit #4 colors today.

H/W: Memorize 4 colors (red, black, white, purple).

Procedure:

1. (3P) 1) Return your 2nd draft and quiz #3 papers. 2) Unit #4 quiz on next Tuesday (4/7/09).

2. (5P) 1) Glue your blue colored strip. 2) Turn in any makeup work? (flash cards, origami products, quiz). 3) Unit #4 quiz on next Tuesday (4/7/09).

3. Teach new terms (red, black, white, purple). Take notes. Pair practice. Practice reading your oral presentation draft twice with your partner.

4. (3P only) Cultural reading.

5. (3P only) VHS viewing “The Chinese Word for Horse.”

4. Get a copy of crossword puzzle when you complete your quiz.
