Procedures and Homework Assignments for 5/7/09

Procedure for HS 1P (5/7/09)

Objective: 1) Students will continue to learn new characters in Lesson 7. 2) Students will be able to hold telephone conversations for many situations.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return all papers (Audacity, quiz). Collect quiz papers and Audacity record. Grades are in the system already. Expand your lesson 6 skit with lesson 7 skit and perform in two week. Rubrics will be given soon. 2) A taste of the AP Chinese for Audio prompts and Free-response questions. 3) Take one copy of Lesson 7 Text. Get ready to practice reading the text.

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (5/7/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to learn new characters in lesson 11. 2) Students will be able to express their food preferences, to name some Chinese dishes and to gain knowledge of the characteristics of Chinese food and Chinese cooking.

功課: 生字一行.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your character H/W. 2 Take one copy of Lesson 11 Text. Get ready to practice reading the test.
  2. Learn new characters (, , , , ). Read sentences on text page 93.
  3. (2P only) Finish compiling the 4-course/1-soup dinner menu.
  4. Culture reading: text page 101.
  5. Pass out chopsticks. Practice using/holding chopsticks to pick up food items. Relay game this Friday.

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (5/7/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will label major Chinese cities on a map. 2) Students will read passages about Chinese immigrant/China town.

H/W: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

1. Quick review of learned terms (Ni Hao, Wo Shi, Ni Shi, Zai Jian, Zhang Lao Shi => Zao An/Zao/Ni Zao, Wu An, Wan An, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi). (3P only) Teach new terms (Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi)

2. Finish labeling the major cities on the map. Informal assessment.

3. Culture reading: Chinatown and Chinese migrants.

4. (3P only) Write a skit. Collect at the end.

5. Tangram pieces activity.
