Procedures and Homework Assignments for 5/14/09

Procedure for HS 1P (5/14/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will start their skit preparation. 2) Students will practice reading text passages.

H/W: 1) Practice reading all text passage. 2) Workbook pages 60/61.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your WB pages. 2) All seniors return Chinese I/II book(s) on/before 5/22. 3) Return all papers.
  2. Dictation.
  3. Listen to CD for WB page 56. Check the key.
  4. Read text passages to a partner.
  5. Class work: work on skit/workbook pages.

Procedure for HS 2P/9P (5/14/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to learn new characters in lesson 11. 2) Students will start their PowerPoint preparation.

H/W: 1) 生字一行. 2) Practice reading lesson 11 text passages. 3) Start working on PP presentation.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your character H/W. Return all papers. 2) Seniors return your Ni Hao Chinese I books before 5/22 to avoid any fines. 3) No textbook can be used/taken out when we do the recording. 4) Lost one Joy Luck Club book! In your locker, maybe?
  2. Dictation.
  3. Learn new characters (, , , , ).
  4. Read text passages to a partner.
  5. Class work time.

Procedure for MS 3P/5P (5/14/09)

Objective: 1) Students will familiarize themselves with Chinese characters (1-10, 0, 100) through a newspaper hunting activity. 2) Students will apply basic greetings through a skit activity.

H/W: Review learned terms (1-10, 0, 100).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Pass out supplementary handout. 2) Informal assessment (1-10, 0, 100).
  2. (5P only) Skit time.
  3. Pair activity: Hunting Chinese characters (1-10, 0, 100) in the newspaper. Minimum requirement: 20. Have names on the paper.
  4. (3P only) Culture reading: Chinese lucky and unlucky numbers.
  5. (3P only) Teaching Chinese counting principle.
