Procedures for 9/28/09

HS 1P/9P (9/28/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Students practice speaking/writing skills through a Monday sharing routine. 2) Students learn Chinese characters for math operators.

Homework: 1) Practice blending consonants/vowels. 2) Preview Lesson 3 text pages.

Procedure:

1. 1) Take a set of 2 character list handouts. 2) Introduce website, www.yellowbridge.com/chinese/flashcards.php, for flashcards practice. 3) Quiz #4 on next Monday (10/5) covering Lesson 3 and blending of consonants and vowels (d, t, n, l).

2. Monday sharing. Collect your paragraph.

3. Review Hanyu Pinyin handout (vowels). Learn new consonants (d, t, n, l).

HS 2P (9/28/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Students practice speaking/writing skills through a Monday sharing routine. 2)

Homework: 1) Chinese II: 生字 一行. 2) Chinese III: study lesson 8 for quiz on Wednesday. Complete workbook pages.

Procedure:

1. 1) Monday sharing. Collect your paragraph. 2) Introduce flash cards website, www.yellowbridge.com/chinese/flashcards.php, for flashcards practice.

2. Chinese II: 1) Take 1 set of 4 character list/Lesson 1 supplementary term handouts. 2) Quiz #3. 3) Study new characters (, , , , ). 4) Study lesson 1 text pages. 5) Study lesson 1 supplementary terms.

3. Chinese III: WB pages 71-74.

MS 3P/5P (9/28/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Students apply their knowledge about direction terms in playing the Pin the Tails on the Donkey game. 2) Students practice speaking/writing skills through a Monday sharing routine.

Homework: review 5 colors.

Procedure:

1. 1) Quiz #4 changes to next Monday (10/5). 2) Monday sharing. Collect your paragraph.

2. Teach new terms (black, white, green, blue, red). Pair practice (colors).

3. (3P only) Finish up the third origami: balloon.

4. (5P only) Teach terms (up, down, left, right, forward, backward) for game: Pin the Tails on the Donkey. Pair practice, Game time: 2 volunteer pairs.

5. Culture reading: (3P): sports (5) Chinese Zodiac animals.
