Procedures for 10/1/09

HS 1P/9P (10/1/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Students review blending of consonants/vowels. 2) Students continue to learn Chinese characters for math operators.

Homework: Review for quiz (Lesson 3 text + blending of consonants/vowels) on next Monday.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your character assignments (, , , , , , ). 2) Pair practice reading d/t/n/l blending while Ms. Chang checks completeness of your WB homework assignment. 3) Pass back Audacity papers. 4) (1P only) Introduce website, http://ecl.iflytek.com for practice reading (Internet Explorer as browser only). 5) Make arrangements w/Ms. Chang for makeup reading (1P: Caitlyn, Kathryn, Michaela, Colin, Adam Y., Nathaniel, Ashley, Maggie, Bryan, Ryan; 9P: David, Derek, Cameron, Daniel, Pamela, Cory, Mitchell). You either forgot to record 10 syllables or saved the file in wrong format.

2. Dictation.

3. Check answers to the WB pages 19/20/21.

4. Read text pages 20/22 as a class.

5. Practice quiz sample questions.

6. Listening to exemplary recording (Andrew, Jay, Heidi, etc) if times allows.

HS 2P (10/1/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Chinese III students start lesson 9 to learn terms/sentences for weather. 2) Chinese II students start lesson to learn format/terms for date.

Homework: 1) Chinese II: WB pages / 生字 一行 (, , , , ). 2) Chinese III: 生字 一行 (, , , , , ).

Procedure:

1. Chinese II: 1) Turn in your character homework. 2) Lesson 2 quiz on next Wednesday. 3) Go over supplementary term handouts (Section I/II). 2) Teach new characters (, , , , ). 4) Read lesson 1 text pages 1-2 as a class. Independent reading: pages 5-8.

2. Chinese III: 1) Turn in your character homework. 2) Teach characters (, , , , ). Skit performance date—next Thursday for sure. Bonus points for teams/pairs presented earlier than that. 3) Read/Study Lesson 9 text page 105 as a class.

MS 3P/5P (10/1/09)

Objectives: 1) Students continue to work on their draft of oral presentation. 2) Students play Chinese toy: tangram pieces.

Homework: review all 11 colors.

Procedure:

1. Quick review (11 colors).

2. Pass out/go over sports handout. Teach sports supplementary terms.

3. Teach new terms (xi huan, zui). Draft three sentences: preferences of animals, colors, and sports.

4. Game time: tangram pieces.
