Procedures for 10/2/09

HS 1P/9P (10/2/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Students gain knowledge about Chinese Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. 2) Students play flash cards to get fluency in math operators.

Homework: Review for quiz (Lesson 3 text + blending of consonants/vowels) on next Monday.

Procedure:

1. 1) Adam F., James, Caitlin, Michaela, Jay, Wyatt, Colin, Heidi turn in your character assignments (, , , , , , ). 2) Make arrangements w/Ms. Chang for makeup reading (1P: Caitlyn, Kathryn, Michaela, Colin, Adam Y., Maggie, Bryan, Ryan; 9P: David, Derek, Cameron, Cory, Mitchell).

2. Group/Pair flash card activity.

3. Culture reading: Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. 2) Play Moon Festival video clips. 3) Website http://www.chiculture.net/0818/html/heaven02.html

HS 2P (10/2/09) Procedure

Objectives: 1) Chinese II students will be able to talk about dates, days of the week, birthdays and to ask for permission. 2) Chinese III students will be able to talk about the weather, the duration and characteristics of the seasons and to understand a simple weather report. Homework: 1) Chinese II/III: 5-sentence paragraph. 2) Chinese III: 生字 一行 (, , , , ).

Procedure:

1. Chinese II: 1) Turn in your character homework (, , , , ). Ms. Chang checks your WB pages (2, 3, 5). 2) Go over key to the WB pages.

2. Chinese III: 1) Turn in your character homework (, , , , , ). 2) Teach new characters (, , , , ) and supplementary terms.

3.  1) Culture reading: Textbook page 15: Mid-Autumn Festival/Moon Festival. 2) Play Mid-Autumn Festival video clips. 3) Enjoy Pomelo slices and green tea.

MS 3P/5P (10/2/09)

Objectives: 1) Students gain knowledge about Chinese Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. 2) Students edit/finalize their oral presentation draft. 3) Students play Chinese tangram pieces.

Homework: 1) review all 11 colors for quiz on next Monday. 2) 5-sentence paragraph.

Procedure:

1. 1) Quick review (11 colors). 2) Pass back draft #2. Rewrite on final copy. 3) Makeup work (3P: Navbir – origami; Chris—Origami/index cards/5-sentences paragraph; Jacob: 5-sentence paragraph; Jake-5-sentence paragraph/draft #2; 5P: Joe, Michelle, Ben, Luke-draft #2; Leah: origami; Sammy, Ben, Luke-5-sentence paragraph)

3. Game: tangram pieces, if time allows.
