Procedures for 10/13/09

HS 1P/9P (10/13/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will finish up learning compound vowels today. 2) Students will gain fluency in reading text for audacity on Thursday.

Homework: 1) One row for each of two new Chinese characters. 2) Read textbook 10-15 over the weekend. 3) WB pages 10, 12, 13. Due on Thursday. Ms. Chang checks your completeness at Dell Lab.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your 5-character homework. 2) Take one reading slip. 3) MS students, no Chinese class tomorrow due to PSAT testing. 4) Ms. Chang is not available due to a staff meeting this afternoon.

2. (1P only) Finish up video “Chinese Word for Horse”.

3. Teach new Chinese characters (, ).

4. Use reading slip to read text passages (text pages 7-9).

5. Model typing Chinese character online (www.inputking.com).

6. Work/Check answers on WB page 9/Listening comprehension.

7. (9P only) Matching activity.

HS 2P (10/13/09)

Objectives: 1) Students practice/gain fluency in reading text passages for audacity this Thursday. 2) Students polish their listening/speaking skills through a group activity.

Homework: 1) Practice reading lesson one / lesson 9 text passages for audacity recording. 2) Chinese II: . 3) Chinese III; 生字一行. WB pages 76-77. Ms. Chang will check your completeness at Dell Lab on Thursday.

Procedure:

1. 1) Chinese II/III: Take one reading slip. Draw 2 out of 4 paragraphs for audacity this Thursday. 2) Ms. Chang is not available due to a staff meeting this afternoon. 3) No Chinese class tomorrow. 4) Besides audacity recording, Chinese II students will work on/type your draft of your pen pal letter. Chinese II students will work on Lesson 9 skit.

2. Read text passages (Ms. Chang & Rachel lead Chinese II/III).

3. Chinese III: 1) New Chinese characters (, ). 2) WB pages 76-77. 3) Draft weather questions for your skit.

4. Chinese II: 1) Read textbook 12-15. 2) Draft your pen pal letter.

MS 3P/5P (10/13/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will learn simple greetings today. 2) Students will learn Pinyin system.

Homework: 1) Signature slip. 2) Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Collect your Student Inventory sheet. Turn in your signature slip, if any. 2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Wo Shi).
  2. Teach new terms (Ni Shi, Zai Jiang). Pair practice/quiz each other.
  3. Line up and build community activity.
  4. Pass out/Go over Pinyin handout/tone marks.
  5. (3P only) Practice chopsticks. (5P only) Showcase art project samples.
