Procedures for 10/15/09

HS 1P (10/15/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will demonstrate their oral fluency in making an audacity recording. 2) Students will learn to type Chinese characters with an online application. 3) Students will review Chinese characters through an online flashcard/memory game.

Homework: 1) Review for Lesson Two quiz on next Monday 2) 5-sentence paragraph. 3) Read textbook pages 10-15.

Procedure:

1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your WB homework (pages 10, 12, 13). Turn in your 2-character homework assignment. 3) Take a copy of today’s activity sheet.

2. Record lesson 2 text.

3. Log onto www.inputking.com. Type Chinese characters. Collect at the end of the class.

4. Log onto www.yellowbridge.com to review flash cards.

5. Practice reading consonants and compound vowels, if time allows.

HS 2P (10/15/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will demonstrate their oral fluency in making an audacity recording. 2) Chinese II students will draft their pen pal letter. Chinese III students will do research work and draft their weather report for Lesson 9 skit.

Procedure:

1. Chinese II: 1) Take one handout. 2) Draw two sticks for your recording. 3) Record your passages. 4) Type your pen pal letter draft.

Chinese III: 1) Draw two sticks for your recording. 2) Record your paragraphs. 3) Log onto http://www.cwb.gov.tw/ (Central Weather Bureau, ROC, 中央氣象局全球資訊網) to learn terms for writing a weather report. 4) Draft your lesson 9 skit with at least 10 sentences about weather condition in Cleveland area (or other cities). Skit due next Friday.

MS 3P/5P (10/15/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will gain geographic knowledge (major cities, rivers, mountains, etc) about China through reading and watching a DVD. 2) Students will finish up first unit of basic greetings. 3) Students will practice chopsticks with Cheerios.

1. 1) Please take a set of character list. 2) Continue to make arrangement with Ms. Chang for audacity pronunciation (1P: Maggie, Bryan, Ryan; 9P: David, Derek, Cory, Mitchell, Cameron). 3) Return papers. 4) Makeup test (Melissa). 5) There is a short meeting for Chinese Club after school this afternoon. It will be filling out the survey, showing your interest of being elected as officers, paying due ($5), etc. Your friends do not have to take Chinese class to join the club! Next meeting is on Monday (10/12) to elect officers, enjoy snack, etc.
