Procedures for 12/11/09

HS 1P/9P (12/11/09)

Objective: Students will gain knowledge about China’s geography, traditional religions, and beliefs through a DVD viewing.

Homework: 1) 5-sentence paragraph. 2) 7-character writing assignment. 3) E-mail Ms. Chang your family picture over this weekend.

Procedure:

1. 1) Take one copy of a DVD summary handout and one oral presentation checklist. 2) Ms. Chang returns all papers. Check and review your sentences. Edit your sentences in your computer, too.

2. 1) Go over checklist. 2) Teach new characters (, , ). Introduce new sentence pattern about them.

Objectives: 1) Chinese II students will finalize/work on their floor plan project. 2) Chinese III students will get familiarity on direction instructions. 3) Students will gain knowledge about China’s geography, traditional religions, and beliefs through a DVD viewing.

Homework: 1) Chinese II: finalize your floor plan project. 2) Chinese III: get familiar with all terms for building, directions, etc. 3) 5-sentence paragraph.

Procedure:

1. Chinese II: 1) return quiz paper for review. Collect. 2) Work on your project.

2. Chinese III: Go over sample tasks list.

3. 1) Pass out a DVD summary handout. 2) DVD viewing: “China From Past to Present: Geography, Traditional Religions, and Beliefs.

MS3P/5P (12/11/09)

Objectives: 1) Students will take their quiz #1 (basic greetings). 2) Students will gain knowledge about China’s geography, traditional religions, and beliefs through a DVD viewing.

Homework: 5-sentence paragraph.

Procedure:

1. Quick review.

2. Quiz #1 (basic greetings).

3. (5P) Culture reading: lucky and unlucky numbers.

4. (3P) Finish paper cutting activity.

5. DVD viewing: “China: From Past to Preset: Geography, Traditional Religions, and Beliefs”.

6. Teach new terms (numbers 1-5) and corresponding Chinese characters
