Procedures for 1/7/10

HS 1P/9P (1/7/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will review for semester exam and audacity. 2) Students will learn to talk about their pets and gain an understanding of the Chinese zodiac.

Homework: 1) One row for each new character. 2) Practice Lesson 6, Review Sounds #2, & oral test questions/answers.


1. 1) Return all papers. 2) Missing assignment (1P: Caitlin, Melissa, Wyatt, Colin, Ericka, Ryan; 9P: Kayla, Cory, Shauna).

2. 1) Read Lesson 6 as a class. 2) Read Review Sounds #2. 3) Go over Conversation questions handout (#16-#19). (1P only) Pair practice all reading/speaking parts.

4. Teach new characters (, , , , ). (1P only) Read page 54.

HS 2P (1/7/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will review for semester exam. 2) Chinese II students will be able to talk about clothing, including colors and types of clothes. 3) Chinese III students will take Lesson One Part II quiz today. They will learn to talk about modes of transportation and their use in Lesson Two.

功課: 1) 生字一行 2) Practice oral test questions/answers.


1. Chinese II: 1) Turn in character assignment and flash cards w/your name on it. 2) Learn new characters (, , , , , ). Use links to guide your stroke orders.
3) Pair practice conversation questions. 4) Study supplementary terms.

2. Chinese III: 1) Return quiz paper for review. 2) Go over Conversation questions. 3) Study supplementary materials handout. 4) Read text 18-19.

MS 3P/5P (1/7/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will finish first five sentences of their oral presentation. 2) Students will finish up unit #3 for quiz on Friday. 3) Students will view a short video clip about Chinese New Year’s celebration. 3) Students will start tangram pieces game.

Homework: Review all learned terms.


1. Teach new terms (he, de).

2. (3P only) Teach Chinese format of saying date. 2) Makeup origami product (3P: Jeff, Jackie; 5P: Raine, Brooke, Matt K.). 3) Take makeup quiz #2 (Jennafer).

3. (3P) Finish up draft sentence #5. (3P/5P) Pair practice reading all five sentences.

4. (5P) Culture reading: Legend about Chinese New Year.

5. (3P only) Video viewing: Chinese New Year celebration.

6. Introduce tangram pieces.

7. (5P only) Pass out colored strips for flash cards. Due on next Monday.
