Procedures for 1/29/10

HS 1P/9P (1/29/10)

Objective: 1) Students practice listening comprehension to prepare for their quiz on next Thursday. 2) (9P) Students gain knowledge about land and people in China.

Homework: 5-sentence Chinese paragraph describing a person.

Procedure:

1. Free Event at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall (198 Hill Street, Akron, Ohio 44325-0033) at 7:30 PM on Feb. 3, 2010 (Chinese Martial Arts & Folk Music Performance Group). Tickets are FREE and can be obtained at the EJ Thomas Hall Ticket Office from Monday thru Friday from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM or on the evening of the performance. For information call: The Confucius Institute at The University of Akron at 330-972-2013 or visit their website at: www.uakron.edu/ci.

2. (1P) 1) Turn in your character assignment. 2) Ms. Chang returns papers and checks the completeness of WB assignment. 3) Whole class listening activity w/worksheet (practice speaking & listening skills) – write down your name and names for answers. Collect. 3) Check answer key to WB pages.

3. (9P) 1) Ms. Chang returns papers and checks the completeness of WB assignment. 2) Listen to CD / WB page 43 Section B & page 44 Section E. Checks answer key. 3) Check answer key to WB assignment. 4) DVD: Stories from China: Land and People (Yellow River).

HS 2P (1/29/10)

Objectives: Students will review listening comprehension segment to enhance their listening skill. 2) Students will gain knowledge about places/people in China.

** Scheduling assemblies at 1P (junior), 2P (sophomore), and 3P (freshmen). Only have 13 juniors and seniors in class today.

MS 3P/5P (1/29/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will gain geographic knowledge about China through viewing a DVD. 2) Students continue to learn basic greetings. 3) Students will practice using chopsticks to pick up food.

Homework: 5-sentence paragraph.

Procedure:

1. 1) Collect any late homework. 2) Quick review of learned terms.

2. Teach new terms (Zao, Zao An, Ni Zao, Wu An, Wan An).

3. Chopsticks practice.

4. Pass out / Introduce reading packet: China.

5. DVD: Places in China.
