Procedures for 2/5/10

HS 1P/9P (2/5/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will prepare for their audacity on next Monday. 2) Students will view a documentary about Beijing Stadium.

Homework: 1) Practice reading Lesson 7 text. 2) Finish up your sentences for PP draft. 3) 5-sentence paragraph describing a person.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return homework papers/quiz papers. 2) Get a copy of Lesson 7 text slip. Write your name. 3) Audacity recording next Monday. Bring your slip. Assigned seats. No textbook on the desk. Make sure you have a previous draft saved in your H drive. You need to turn in a print out at the end of the period to prove you are working on your PP project. The slides should include your name, family members’ name/age/profession, any pet’s name/physical description, etc). 4) Start to find digital pictures/images for your project.

2. 1) Explain common grammar mistakes (, measure word ó possessive term, question words). 2) Read Lesson 7 text w/your slip.

3. Listening comprehension: video clip (greetings—貴姓/留學生, family members—在北京/喜歡).

4. DVD: Beijing Stadium (20 minutes).

第一課 (Lesson One): 貴姓 (guì xìng: honorable last name) / 留學生 (liú xué shēng: students who go abroad to study)

第二課 (Lesson Two): 在北京 (Běi Jīng: live in Beijing) / 喜歡 (Xǐ Huān: like)

HS 2P (2/5/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will practice conversation. 2) Students will view a documentary about Beijing Stadium.

Homework: 5 sentence paragraph describing a person with higher level descriptive words!

Procedure:

1. 1) Take a copy of Lesson 2 and Lesson 4 text. 2) Listening comprehension next Monday at 2F lab. Be prepared to answer questions. You can listen/watch as many times as you want. The more you complete with accuracy, the higher your grades. 3) Mini quiz on descriptive words/places on next Wednesday.

2. Chinese II: 1) Be prepared. Skit is coming up. Independent study: Study the conversation questions on the slips.

3. Chinese III: Ms. Chang goes over common writing mistakes (, ). Independent study: Study the conversation questions on the slip.

4. Whole class: conversation questions.

5. Listening comprehension: video clip (greetings—貴姓/留學生, family members—在北京/喜歡).

6. DVD: Beijing Stadium.

MS 5P (2/5/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will take unit #1 quiz today. 2) Students will gain knowledge about Chinese zodiac animals.

Homework: 5-sentence paragraph.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return papers. 2) Quick review.

2. Quiz.

3. Culture reading: pronunciation. Showcase Chinese publications.

4. Teach numbers (one-four). CD: counting numbers.

5. DVD: Chinese zodiac animal story./ Chinese rap/tongue twister video clip.
