Procedures for 3/23/10

HS 1P/9P (3/23/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will finish up learning all vocabulary for lesson nine. 2) Students will learn how to invite people to play sports. 3) Students will practice their listening/speaking skills through an interview activity.

Homework: one row for each new character.

Procedure:

1. 1) MS students return activity bags. 2) MS students turn in your writing assignment. 3) Ms. Chang returns mini quiz papers.

2. Teach new characters (, , , , ).

3. Read text passages on page 77-79.

4. Go over sentence patterns on text page 81.

Objectives: 1) Chinese II students will learn to ask about the price and availability of goods, expressing opinions on goods and making choices. 2) Chinese III students will be able to talk about their life outside school, including TV programs, movies, music, plays and sports. They will also learn to express their opinions about these topics.

Procedure:

1. 1) Ms. Chang checks 中文三 WB page 32 Section D. Go over answer key. 2) 中文二mini quiz tomorrow.

2. 中文二: 1) Go over text page 65 sentence patterns. 2) Work on problems on WB page 45 (#1, #2, #4, #5, #7). Finish #9/#10 as H/W. 3) Independent study: Learn new characters (, , , ).

The usages of “”:

1) Possessive: 我的,你的

2) After an adjective: 紅的, 白的, 小一點的

3) After a noun: 紅色的

4) After a conditional verb:

e.g., 昨天買的蘋果the apple that I bought yesterday

Objectives: 1) 3P students will continue the number unit. 2) Students will solidify their acquisition of Chinese number characters through newspaper hunting activity.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

1. 1) Ms. Chang returns 5-sentnece paragraphs, skit and Chinese character writing assignment. 2) 3P students turn in your 5-sentence paragraph, if you have not done so.

2. (3P) 1) Quick review (1-6). 2) Teach new terms (7-10, 0, 100) with Chinese characters. Collect at the end of the class. 3) Present your skit. 4) Introduce MS class list (Kristen Creneti, Adam Fiore, James Humel, Caitlin Leiby, Lillian Nguyen, Kathryn Pekarik, Melissa Rains, Michaela Romito, Charles Jay Rose, Wyatt Schreiner, Colin Scott, Heidi VanValkenburgh, Aashna Waiwood, Bradford Ward, Adam Yaseen). 5) Audio CD (numbers 1-7) and Chinese rapping video clip. 6) Culture reading: Lucky/unlucky numbers.

3. (5P) 1) Quick review (1-10, 0, 100) w/Chinese characters. 2) Teach Chinese counting principle. Pass out/Sound out numbers in counting table in Chinese. 3) Pair activity: Hunting Chinese characters in newspaper. Collect at the end of class period
