Procedures for 3/24/10

HS 1P/9P (3/24/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will sharpen their speaking/listening skills through various activities. 2) Students will practice reading/writing skills through a writing exercise and a review activity.

Homework: WB pages 56/58.

Procedure:

1. 1) MS students turn in your activity bags, please. 2) Makeup work (1P: Brad/Heidi—quiz/assignment; Adam F.: assignment; 9P: Cory–quiz). 3) Ms. Chang returns you papers (Adam Y.).

2. (1P) Teach one more character (). Turn in your character writing assignment after you’re done with this character.

3. Read text passages on pages 77-79.

4. Review / WB page 57 activity: 最喜歡 (1) => 喜歡 (2) => 不喜歡 (3) => 最不喜歡 (4). Go over the answers.

5. Follow-up from yesterday’s WB 59 interview activity (speaking/listening comprehension on SmartBoard). Volunteers needed.

6. Writing practice on dry erase board practice.

7. (9P only) Review activity: puzzle pieces.

8. (9P only) Conversation questions session.

HS 2P (3/24/10)

Objectives: 1) Chinese II students will learn to ask about the price and availability of goods, expressing opinions on goods and making choices. 2) Chinese III students will be able to talk about their life outside school, including TV programs, movies, music, plays and sports. They will also learn to express their opinions about these topics.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your character assignment. Ms. Chang returns all papers. 2) Chinese III mini quiz #2 on next Thursday, 4/1 (various movie types). 3) Cecilia/Sarah talk to Ms. Chang after class.

2. 中文二: 1) Quick review. 2) Quiz. 3) Go over characters from yesterday (, , , and new characters (便, , , , ). 4) Independent study: Read text page 55 and study terms/sentence pattern on page 56 (可是, 怎麼樣, 這裡, 這兒, 百貨公司).

Objectives: Students will finish up number unit with counting table/counting principle and connecting the dots activity.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return papers. One newspaper without names (Russel, Nick?). 2) Unit #2 quiz this Friday. 3) Makeup work (3P: Macie/Dave: 5-sentence paragraph; Dave/Kent: skit presentation; 9P: Halle, Anna, Jasmine, Maddie M., Joe, Nick—Chinese characters; Maddie S./Jasmine—skit presentation; Bryan, Halle, Joe, Maddie M., Jasmine—5-sentence paragraph; Halle, Joe—newspaper activity). 4) Tornado drill at 9:50 AM.

2. (3P) 1) Quick review (1-10, 0, 100) w/Chinese characters. 2) Pair activity: Hunting Chinese number/picture characters in newspaper. 3) Go over Chinese counting principle. 4) Pass out/Go over Chinese counting table.
