Procedures for 5/10/10

HS 1P/9P (5/10/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to express their food preferences and to name some Chinese dishes. 2) Students will finish up viewing the story of Ruth Harkness’ journey in China in 1930s.

Homework: 1) One row for each new character. 2) Log food consumption into table daily.

Procedure:

1. 1) Turn in your character assignment. 2) Return papers. 3) Take one copy of food consumption log. 4) Volunteers needed for Culture Night on 5/21 from 5:30 – 7:00 (at least one student for each 30 minutes/shift, 2 flag bearers). 5) Due date for MS students: Tuesday, 5/18 (food consumption table, PPT draft #5 with addition of birthday, food preferences and sentences for those who do not have pets at home). 6) HS students: PPT #5 due this Thursday at the end of class (2nd F. lab). Oral semester exam is on this Friday.

2. Go over Food Consumption Table.

3. Read lesson 11 text passages.

4. Learn new characters (, , , , ).

5. DVD: China: The Panda Adventure.

6. Conversation practice, if time allows.

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to build vocabulary for new lesson 5 and lesson 7. 2) Students will finish up viewing the story of Ruth Harness’ journey in China in 1930s.

Objectives: 1) (3P) Students will share their weekend activities with their peers. 2) Students will learn numbers 1-7 today. 3) Students will brainstorm ideas about their art project.

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

1. 1) Return papers (quiz, skit, 5-sentence paragraph, etc).

2. (3P) Monday sharing. Collect.

3. Finish up skit.

4. Teach new terms (yi, er, san, si, wu, liu). Listen to CD for reinforcement.

5. DVD: Chinese Zodiac Animals.

6. Showcase art project samples.

7. (5P) Culture reading: Chinese zodiac story.
