Procedures for 8/31/10

Procedure for HS 1P (8/31/10)

Objectives: 1) Gain historical/cultural knowledge about China.  2) Learn basic greetings.

Homework: 1) Practice listening to/deciding tones w/websites.  2) Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quiz #1: Tuesday, 9/7 (Basic greetings, tone marks).  2) Check ProgressBook for accuracy/missing work.  3) Keep classroom clean.
  2. Review old learned terms (Ni Hao, Ni Shi).  Teach new terms (Wo Shi, Lao Shi, Zao, Zao An, Ni Zao, Zao Shang Hao).
  3. Introduce websites for tone drilling (http://www.shufawest.us/language/tonedrill.html (Mandarin tone drill), or http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/real_chinese (BBC Chinese homepage)).
  4. Culture reading (Lesson 1: pgs 1-2).
  5. Practice chopsticks/game time.

Procedure for HS 2P (8/31/10)

目標: Review terms for different parts of the days and periods of days.

功課: 1) Write four characters (出, 帶, 館, 間).  2) Practice reading Lesson 8 first paragraph.

程序:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lessons 8+9/ text passages and one calendar worksheet.  2) Participation grades start today.  Speak at least 3 sentences to earn 3 points every day.  3) Vote field trip #1: (time and place).  4) Test #1: Wednesday, 9/8 (all reviewed materials up to this Friday).  Review/Study guide: Tuesday, 9/7.  Study!! 5) Check ProgressBook for accuracy and missing work.
  2. Teach new characters (出, 帶, 館, 間).
  3. Read Lesson 8 first paragraph.
  4. Review terms for days (今天, 明天, 後天, 大後天, 昨天, 前天, 大前天, 上午,中午, 下午, 早上,晚上).

Objectives: 1) Know classmates’ Chinese names. 2) Be proficient in telling dates from a calendar.

Homework: 1) Three characters. 2) Practice reading Lesson One first paragraph (pg 1)

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your H/W (translating 3 dates).  2) Ms. Chang checks completion of character worksheet.  3) Sign your name on Textbook Inventory sheet (#1–#18 only).  4) Take one copy of calendar worksheet.  5) Quiz #1: Tuesday, 9/7 (date format, terms for days).  6) Check ProgressBook for accuracy and missing work.

  3. Teach new characters (昨, 後, 前).
  4. Read textbook page 1
  5. Listening comprehension.  Write down all your answers.
