Procedures for 8/25/10

Procedures for HS 1P (8/25/10)

Objectives: 1) Know classmates.  2) Reflect reasons for taking Chinese I and set goals for this year.  3) Understand and complete the Students Inventory worksheet as homework assignment.

Homework: Student Inventory due on tomorrow (8/26)

Procedure:

  1. 1) Sit on your assigned seat, please.  2) Only 23 minutes per period except lunch periods (30 minutes) today.
  2. What will be covered this year?  —Pinyin (Chinese phonetic system), basic greetings, numbers, languages/countries, classroom supplies, family, pet, physical description, preferences of food and sports, etc.
  3. Seat work—Reflect and set goals: 1) Write down why you decided to take Chinese I this year.  2) Write down what you would like to accomplish this year.  3) Write down your or family e-mail address for future correspondence.  Collect.
  4. Pair/Group activity (5 minutes):  Interview a partner and write down three things about him/her (besides name and grade).  Keep your work and present tomorrow.
  5. Pass out/go over homework.

**        Will test your e-mail address tonight.

Procedure for HS 2P (8/25/10)

目標 (mù biāo): 1) 知道同學的中文名字 2) 分享讀書技巧(Fēn Xiǎng Dú Shū Jì Qiǎo) 3) 定目標 (Dìng Mù Biāo).

功課 (gōng kè): 1) Find you Ni Hao 2 WB.  Due on next Monday.  2) Memorize everyone’s Chinese name.  Know all colors and numbers.  Will e-mail you the complete list today.      

程序 (chéng xù):

  1. Sit on your assigned seat, please.
  2. Matching game: (中文名字 vs.英文名字).
  3. What will be covered this year?  –dining out, weather, school life (subjects, buildings, etc), get around places (give/ask for directions), leisure life (different genres for music, TV, movies, etc), birthday celebration…
  4. Seat work: 1) Study 3 strategies for Chinese II students.  2) E-mail address.  3) Sentences for Kristine Wright.  4) Learning goals for this year.  Collect.
  5. Review game: numbers

Procedure for HS 9P (8/25/10)

Objectives: 1) Know your classmates.  2) Set goals for Chinese II.  3) Share study strategies.

Homework: Type up interview result.  Due on Friday.  Present on next Monday (in Chinese)

Procedure:

  1. Sit on your assigned seat, please.
  2. What will be covered this year?—date, time, daily routine, relative positions, directions, rooms, shopping, clothing, visiting friends, dining out, weather…
  3. Seat work: 1) 2 study strategies for Chinese I students.  2) E-mail address.  3) Learning goals for this year.  Collect.
  4. Interview a partner (not from same Chinese I class).  Write down 5 things about him/her (besides name and grade).

Procedure for MS 3P (8/25/10)

Objectives: 1) Learn China’s major cities.  2) Complete student inventory.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. Sit on assigned seat.  Get students’ team assignment information.
  2. Pass out, go over and fill out Student Inventory.  Collect.
  3. Pas out reading packet.  Go over first 10 questions as anticipation set.  Pair reading or as a class.  Locate/identify cities on map and answer the very first 10 questions in answer sheet.
