Procedures for 8/26/10

Procedure for HS 1P (8/26/10)

Objectives: Know Chinese class expectations and resources.

Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Monday.  2) Interview result due on next Monday.  3) School supplies due on next Friday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Chinese class syllabus.  2) Turn in your Student Inventory homework.  3) Know and write your class number on all assignment papers, please.  4) Open house: next Wednesday, 9/1.
  2. Go over class syllabus (opening routine, class routine, supplies needed, website resources, grading policy, participation grades, daily blog…).  Questions?
  3. Read study strategies from Chinese II class.
  4. Pair activity: Interview one partner and write down five things about him/her.  Present tomorrow/next Monday.

Procedure for HS 2P (8/26/10)

Objectives: 1) Know Chinese class expectations and resources.  2) Review numbers, colors and fruits.

Homework: 1) phrases for “幾/几”   2) Signature slip due next Monday.  3) School supplies due on next Friday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Chinese class syllabus.  2) Take one group picture.  Proof e-mail draft and ready to go!  3) Know and write your class number on all assignment papers, please.  4) Open house: next Thursday, 9/1.
  2. Go over class syllabus (opening routine, class routine, supplies needed, website resources, grading policy, participation grades, daily blog…).  Questions?
  3. Brainstorm usages of “幾/几”?  Complete it as homework tonight.
  4. Naming game.
  5. Review games: numbers/colors/fruits!  E-mail fruits and Chinese I/II curriculum this afternoon.

Procedure for HS 9P (8/26/10)

Objectives: 1) Know Chinese class expectations and resources.  2) Gain study strategies from Chinese III class.  .

Homework: 1) Complete activity sheet: matching classmates’ Chinese name with English name.  2) Signature slip due on next Monday.  3) Typed interview result due tomorrow.  Presentation due next Monday.  4) Supplies due on next Friday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Chinese class syllabus.  2) Know and write your class number on all assignment papers, please.
  2. Go over class syllabus (opening routine, class routine, supplies needed, website resources, grading policy, participation grades, daily blog…).  Questions?
  3. Read study strategies from Chinese II class.
  4. Continue interview activity?  Questions?
  5. Pair activity:  pass out activity sheet and figure out classmates’ Chinese names.  Complete as homework assignment tonight.

Objectives: 1) Students know their teacher and class expectations.  2) Students learn basic greetings.

Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. Pass out/Go over Ms. Chang’s Grading Policy/Classroom Rules.
  2. Self-introduction.
  3. Teach and learn basic Chinese terms (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian).
  4. Explain building community activity for tomorrow.

Procedure for MS 5P (8/26/10)

Objectives: 1) Learn class expectations.  2) Students know their classmates.  3) Review/Learn basic greetings.

Homework: 1) Signature slip due next Monday.  2) School supplies due on next Friday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your Student Inventory.  2) Take one copy of Chinese class syllabus.  3) Open house on Wednesday, 9/15.
  2. Go over details (expectations, opening routine, class routine, supplies needed, website resources, grading policy, daily blog, etc): part I.
  3. Present interview result.  Continue tomorrow.
  4. Teach basic greetings (Ni Hao, Zai Jian, Lao Shi).
