Procedures for 8/27/10

Procedure for HS 1P (8/27/10)

Objectives: Sharing study abroad programs/experiences and summer immersion activities.

Homework: 1) Turn in/Present your interview result on next Monday.  2) 10-sentence paragraph about your summer vacation.  Type and deliver it on next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. Turn in your signature slip, if available.  Due on next Monday.
  2. Presentation (Trey Rainey—NSLI-Y scholarship, Ben Genco—spring semester study abroad experience, Antonio—summer immersion camp).  Q/A session.

Procedure for HS 2P (8/27/10)

目標 (Mù Biāo—objectives, target, goals): Sharing study abroad programs/experiences and summer immersion activities.

功課: 10-sentence paragraph about your summer vacation.  Type and deliver in Chinese on next Monday.

程序 (Chéng Xù—procedure):

  1. 1) Turn in your signature slip, if available.  It is due on next Monday.  2) Turn in your phrases of  “幾/几”.  3) Ni Hao 2 WB is due on next Monday.

Procedure for HS 9P (8/27/10)

Objectives: 1) Sharing study abroad programs/experiences and summer immersion activities. 2) Review Chinese date format.

Homework: 1) Practice and present your oral presentation on next Monday.  2) Practice writing your Chinese name, if you forgot.  Can e-mail Ms. Chang for stroke order.  3) 10-sentence paragraph about your summer (in English).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your signature slip, if any.  It’s due on next Monday.  Turn in your typed interview result.  Turn in your matching sheet (English vs. Chinese names).  2) Open house: next Thursday, 9/1.  3) Starting from next Monday, write down your Chinese name on all papers.
  2. Presentation (Benita—summer immersion trip, Atonio—summer immersion camp).  Q/A session.
    1. Number game.
    2. Pass out workbook.
    3. Quick review of Chinese date format.  Will continue next week.

Procedure for MS 3P (8/27/10)

Objectives: 1) Build community.  2) Introduce basic Chinese phonetic system.

Homework: 5-sentence paragraph about your weekend.  Due on next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Collect signature slip, if any.  It’s due on next Monday.  2) Take one copy of Hanyu pinyin/Basic greetings handout.  3) Open house: Thursday, 9/9.  4) Write your class number on all papers.
  1. Review new terms (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian).  Building community activity by practicing all four terms.
  2. Go over Introduction to Hanyu Pinyin handout.

Procedure MS 5P (8/27/10)

Objectives: 1) Know your classmates through a presentation activity.  4) Know class expectations.  3) Learn pinyin system.

Homework: 10-sentence paragraph about your summer vacation.  Due on next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your signature slip, if any.  It’s due on next Monday.  2) Write your class number on all papers.  3) Open House: Wednesday, 9/15.  4) Take one pinyin/basic greetings handout.
  2. Review terms from yesterday (Ni Hao, Zia Jian, Lao Shi).  Dictation.
  3. Read study strategies from Chinese II class.
  4. Go over details (expectations, opening routine, class routine, supplies needed, website resources, grading policy, daily blog, etc): part II.  Showcase a binder.
  5. Continue interview presentation.
  6. Go over Introduction to Hanyu Pinyin /Basic greetings handout.
