Procedures for 9/21/10

Homeroom (9/21/10)

Make sure you leave homeroom with your student ID today.


Procedure for HS 1P (9/21/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to discriminate the d and l sounds.  2) Students will be proficient in numbers from zero to one hundred.

Homework: Review learned syllables and characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lesson Three character worksheet.  2) Return papers (quiz, character writing assignment).  3) Quiz #3 (number dictation, d/t/n/l consonants, 10 characters—天, 土, 大, 小, 中, 石, 加, 減, 乘, 除).  4) Check homework completeness (pages 1, 2/3, 4).  5) Hunting characters/cut paper patterns activities (?).  6) Common mistakes in writing characters (零, 百, 五, 八).  7) Chinese meeting after school today.  8) Your childhood picture due this Friday.
  2. Go over answer key to homework pages.
  3. Review 6 characters (天, 土, 大, 小, 中, 石).
  4. Go over d/t/n/l handout.
  5. Go over ZeroToHundred Table.

Procedure for HS 2P (9/21/10)

目標: 1) Students will be able to use phrases to make sentence in simple conversation.  2) Students will be able to learn characters for Chinese dishes.

功課: 1) Character writing worksheet. 2) Practice reading text passages.

程序:

  1. 1) Lesson Eight audio files were sent out on last Saturday.  Please make good usage of them.  2) Check homework completeness (70 and 72).  3) Chinese Club meeting after school today.
  2. Go over answer key to homework pages.
  3. Read/go over  text passages on pages 93-97.
  4. Finish new characters (自, 己).
  5. Introduce phrases/Conduct simple conversation questions (請進, 謝謝, 剛好, 剛剛, 對不起, 沒關係, 因為所以, 可以, 常常, 時常, 平常, 有時候, 不常, 尤其, 可是, 改天, 吃便飯, 請坐, 點菜, 還有, 還是, 對了, 沒問題, 結帳, 盛飯, 隨便, 自己來, 別客氣, 不客氣, 沒什麼).

Procedure for HS 9P (9/21/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to answer simple questions about dates, days of the week, and their birthday.  2) Students will be able to read text passages fluently.

Homework: Workbook 6. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return papers (character writing, quiz).  2) Lesson One text this Friday (9/24).  3) Audio files were sent out on last Saturday.  Make sure you listen to them!!  4) Rapid character recognition activity (?).  5) Most have neat handwriting (Kristen, David, Eddie, Nathaniel, Anthony, Caitlin, Bryan, Jacklyn, Lillian, Kathryn, Melissa, Benita, Bailey, Heidi, Aashna, Antonio, Claire, Colin, Jay, etc).  6) Missing work (Wyatt: characters WS/HW pages. Caelan: characters WS).  7) Captains check completeness of WB page 6.  8) Lesson One test this Friday.  9) Chinese Club meeting after school today.
  2. Go over homework page 6.
  3. Read text pages 1-4.
  4. Essential questions/simple conversation questions (dates, day of the week, permission, yes/no, birthday year, when’s your birthday?)
  5. Group activity: practice conversation questions—captains are in charge.

Procedure for MS 3P (9/21/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn new terms and compose 2 sentences about themselves.  2) Students will gain knowledge about Chinese dress and chinaware.

Homework: Review learned syllables

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return paper (connecting the dots).  2) Hunting characters/connecting the dots activities (?).  3) Take one copy of oral presentation sentence patterns.
  2. Review counting principle and learned terms (father, mother, older/younger brother/sisters).
  3. Counting from zero to one hundred.
  4. Teach new syllables (years old, birthday, year, de).
  5. Write sentences (I am …., I am …. years old).
  6. DVD: Chinese civilization and art: Chi Pao.

Procedure for MS 5P (9/21/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to discriminate d and t consonants.  2) Students will be fluent in counting numbers from zero to one hundred.

Homework: Review learned syllables and characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lesson Three character worksheet and one copy of Lesson Three text passages.  2) Return papers (quiz, character writing, homework pass, and candy to yellow team).  3) Quiz #3 (number dictation, dtnl consonants, 10 characters—天, 土, 大, 小, 中, 石, 加, 減, 乘, 除).  4) Ted (makeup quiz, homework pages, character homework. Helper: Mike Zheng).  5) Hunting characters/connecting the dots activities (?).  6) Common mistakes in writing characters (零, 百, 五, 八).  7) Your childhood picture is due this Friday.  8) Textbooks are here.  Get your book cover ready, please.  Will sign up for your book tomorrow.
  2. Teach d and t consonants.
