Procedures for 10/12/10

Procedure for HS 1P (10/12/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will learn compound vowels.  2) Students will compare and contrast the Chinese and English name formats.  3) Students will gain reading fluency through reading Lesson Two text passages.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Come and get your Chinese name packet after 12:30 tomorrow.  2) Quiz #4 (15 MC on final group of consonants) is postponed to next Monday.  We will review on Thursday.
  2. Go over/Teach vowels (ai and ao).
  3. Culture reading: Read text passages on page 15 to compare and contrast Chinese and English name formats.
  4. Read text passages on pages 7-9.
  5. Introduce two website resources, http://student.nihaoseries.com/ & http://www.yellowbridge.com/chinese/flashcards.php.
  6. Introduce future plans (Chinese painting, typing Chinese characters and pinyin online, etc).

Procedure for HS 2P (10/12/10)

目標: 1) Students will continue to learn weather vocabulary.  2) Students will practice their listening skill through a listening activity.  3) Students will review learned materials through a making phrases activity.

功課: Write new characters.

程序:

  1. Check completeness of WB page 81.  Go over the answer key to WB page 81.
  2. Whole class activity: WB page 83 (#6-9)
  3. Listening to audio file: WB page 78.  Go over the answer key.
  4. Learn new characters (寒, 流, 悶, 晴, 朗).

Procedure for HS 9P (10/12/10)

Objective: Students will be able to review learned materials through playing Ni Hao 1 and 2 interactive computer games.

功課: N/A

Procedure:

Take one headset.  Go to P drive, click Ms. Chang’s folder.  Then click Ni Hao 1 or Ni Hao 2 (lessons 1 and 2 only) to review learned materials.  You can type in your name and period number to log in.

Procedure for MS 3P (10/12/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn more greeting terms.  2) Students will gain geographic knowledge about China through viewing a DVD and completing a reading packet about China.

Homework: 1) Review all learned terms.  2) Complete reading packet.  Due at the beginning of class tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. Review all learned terms (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian, Zao, Zao An, Zao Shang Hao, Ni Zao, Wu An, Wan An).
  2. Teach new terms (Zhang Lao Shi, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Xi).
  3. DVD: China.
  4. Pair activity: Read over/Discuss reading packet.

Procedure for MS 5P (10/12/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will gain knowledge about after-school activities, farm chores and weekend activities in China.  2) Students will learn compound vowels today.  3) Students will gain reading fluency through reading Lesson Two text passages.

Homework: review learned syllables.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quiz #4 on 7 consonants is on this Thursday.  2) Lesson Two chapter test is on next Thursday.  3) Teach compound vowels (ai, ao, ei).  3) Chinese painting lesson is on next Friday.
  2. Read text passages on pages 7-9.
  3. DVD: Let’s visit Dawei Village.
