Procedures for 10/6/10

rocedure for HS 1P (10/6/10)

Objectives: Students will be able to discriminate r, z, c, and s consonants.

Homework: Review all learned syllables.


  1. 1) Quick review (你, 我, 他, 是).  2) Whole class activity: tossing ball and practicing introduction.
  2. Dictation (zh, ch, sh).
  3. Go over r, z, c, and s consonants.

Procedure for HS 2P (10/6/10)

目標: 1) Students will learn more weather terms to describe weather.  2) Students will learn new phrases to make sentences.

功課: 1) Write 5 Chinese characters.  2) Make sentences (但是, 又….又…., …到…..).


  1. 1) Go over answer key to H/W page 77.  2) 簡傑明 (skit and membership due).  3) Three audio files were sent to you last night.  Please practice listening and speaking for your next audacity recording.  4) Read your passages to Ms. Chang before the end of this Friday.  Otherwise no credit for Lesson One audacity.
  2. Teach new terms (台, 北, 但, 暖, 又).
  3. Listening comprehension: WB page 75 Section A.  Go over the answer key.
  4. Explain new sentence patterns (但是, 又….又…., …到…..).
  5. Check out website resource: http://www.cwb.gov.tw/ (Central Weather Bureau, ROC, 中央氣象局全球資訊網).

Procedure for HS 9P (10/6/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will practice and gain fluency in their listening skilling through listening two audio files.  2) Students will practice their speaking/listening skills through a pair activity and final presentation.

功課: WB pages 10 and 14


  1. Three audio files were sent to you last night.  Please practice listening/speaking for your next audacity.
  2. Listening comprehension: WB pages 9/11.  Go over the answer key.
  3. Dictation (time).
  4. Read text passages on pages 16-19.
  5. Pair activity (speaking/listening) + final question session (activity pages 65-66).

Procedure for MS 3P (10/6/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will showcase/present their art project.  2) Students will gain cultural knowledge about Chinese food through browsing Chinese cookbooks.  3) Students will gain cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac story.

Homework: N/A


  1. Oral presentation (Kevin, Eric).
  2. 1) Turn in your art project.  2) Pass out Chinese Cook books/discuss cuisines.
  3. Present your project, if applicable.
  4. DVD: zodiac story.

Procedure for MS 5P (10/6/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will redo Lesson Three audacity recording, if required.  2) Students will gain cultural understanding about China through viewing BBC video clips.  3) Students will explore a website resource to read information about Pinyin and listen to the consonant pronunciation.  4) Students will try out Ni Hao 1 interactive computer game.

Homework: Review learned syllables and characters.


  1. Take one microphone (if you need to make recording) and one copy of procedure.
  2. Make recording, if required.
  3. Log onto http://staff.bbhcsd.org/changj/ to click two links or you can manually type in website address: 1) http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/real_chinese/videos/start/ to view basic greetings and introduction to Chinese language, and 2) http://www.learnnc.org/lp/editions/mandarin1/contents to learn about Pinyin and initials.  a) Click/Read 1.1 About Pinyin.  b) Click/Read 1.2 The structure of Chinese syllables.  c) Click/Read 1.3 Initials.  Click arrow key next to each syllable to listen to the pronunciation.
  4. Click P drive,  click Ms. Chang’s folder, and click Ni Hao 1 game to try out interactive computer game.
