Procedures for 11/9/10

Procedure for HS 1P (11/9/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to complete acquiring all new characters in Lesson Four.  2) Students will gain fluency in reading text passages.  3) Students will review back nasal sounds.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Review all learned syllables.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return your skit script.  Questions?  Presentation is tomorrow.  2) Lesson Four audacity: Monday, 11/15.  3) Dictation.
  2. Go over Back Nasal Sounds handout.
  3. Teach new characters (兩, 祝, 生, 快, 樂).  Bonus points in writing a sentence in Lesson Four chapter test.
  4. Read text passages on pages 23-25.

Procedure for HS 2P (11/9/10)

目標: Students will be able to ask/answer questions about their class schedule.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) WB page 1.  3) Send Lesson Nine project/Lesson One class schedule electronically to Ms. Chang.

程序:

  1. 1) Send your electronic version of brochure file / class schedule to Ms. Chang tonight.  Presentation is tomorrow.  2) Return your class schedule work, quiz papers, characters worksheet. etc.  3) Quick review (非常好 (extremely good) => 很好 (very good) => 還好 (all right) / 還可以 / 還不錯 / 還行 / 馬馬虎虎 (so so) => 糟透了 (terrible).  4) Red Lab on Monday, 11/15.
  2. Read text page 8.  Browse through sentence patterns on text pages 9-10.
  3. Seat work: WB page 1.  Complete as homework assignment tonight, if not done at class.
  4. Teach new characters (挺, 借)—英挺 借書 借錢.

Procedure for HS 9P (11/9/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to draw from previously learned characters to make phrases.  2) Students will be able to acquire new terms for various rooms in a house.

功課: 1) WB page 24.  2) Write new characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (上面, 下面, 前面, 後/后面, 左邊/边, 右邊/边, 裡面, 外面, 對面, 游泳池, 書/书房, 廚/厨房, 車庫/车库, 客廳/厅, 飯廳/饭厅, 花園/园, 公園/园, 公寓, 洋房, 陽/阳台, 卧/臥室/房).  2) Conversation questions test starting from tomorrow.
  2. Reteach relative positions – making sentences.
  3. Teach new characters (洗, 衣, 廁, 所, 浴)— 洗衣房, 廁/厕所, 所以, 浴衣, 浴室
  4. Read text passages on pages 30-31.
  5. Pair activity—WB page 24.

Procedure for MS 3P (11/9/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to acquire new terms for unit #4.  2) Students will be able to explore tangram pieces.  3) Students will continue to build sentences for their oral presentation.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Makeup work (Antonio—draft #1, Origami, quiz; Megan: origami).  2) Quick review (Hong Se, Bai Se, Huang Se, Hei Se).
  2. Teach new terms (Lü Se, Lan Se,  Zi Se, Zong Se).
  3. Review address format.  Build sentence 7.
  4. Tangram pieces: Part I.

Procedure for MS 5P (11/9/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will continue to review back nasal sounds.  2) Students will gain fluency in reading text passages.  3) Students will gain linguistic/cultural knowledge about Mandarin Chinese/Huang Shan through viewing a DVD.

Homework: WB page 26.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return your Skit script.  Questions?  Presentation is tomorrow.  2) Dictation.
  2. Go over Back Nasal Sounds handout.
  3. Read text passages on pages 23-25.
  4. Simple conversation practice.
  5. DVD: Let’s Visit Huang Shan.
