Procedures for 11/15/10

Procedure for HS 1P (11/15/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to make recording of Lesson Four text passages.  2) Students will review materials through playing interactive computer games.  3) Students will utilize a website site to review Hanyu phonetic system.

Homework: Review Back Nasal Sounds handout for test tomorrow.


  1. 1) Get a headset, a text passages slip, and this short instruction for today’s activities.
  2. Save your file as <last name>LessonFour.wav and submit to Ms. Chang’s HS 1P folder.  Turn in your text passages slip.
  3. Go to P drive, click Ms. Chang’s folder and log onto Ni Hao 1 interactive game.
  4. Log onto http://www.learnnc.org/lp/editions/mandarin1/contents.  Click Pinyin foundations section or Chinese writing section to learn more about Chinese phonetics and Chinese characters.

Procedure for HS 2P (11/15/10)

目標: Students will be able to review learned Chinese I, II and III material through playing interactive games.

功課: WB page 4.


  1. 1) Take one headset and one copy of Story Map/Discussion Questions for our movie unit.
  2. Go to P drive, click Ms. Chang’s folder and try Ni Hao 1, 2 or 3 interactive games.  Focus on reading and listening parts, please.

Procedure for HS 9P (11/15/10)

Objectives: Students will be able to learn new characters to describe the condition of things.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) Study for conversation test on Wednesday and quiz on Friday.  3) WB page 19-20.


  1. 1) Return draft #2, etc.  Comments/Questions?  2) Missing/makeup work (Bailey, Benita, Pamela, Adam Y., Caelin, Colin, Eddie, Claire, Lillian—WB/draft).  3) Lesson Three Quiz #2 (6 rooms, 6 appliances/furniture, 4 adjectives): Friday, 11/19.  4) All labels in your project should be in Chinese!!  Make sure you fulfill requirements of 8 different relative positions/8 different room names.
  2. Quick review (上面, 下面, 前面, 後/后面, 左邊/边, 右邊/边, 裡面, 外面, 對面, 書/书房, 廚/厨房, 游泳池, 車庫/车库, 客廳/厅, 飯廳/饭厅, 花園/园, 公園/园, 公寓, 洋房, 陽/阳台, 卧/臥室/房, 洗衣房, 廁/厕所, 浴室, 電視機, 電冰箱, 洗衣機, 沙發, 水床, 箱子, 沙發床, 果汁機, 電話).
  3. Teach new characters (最, 話, 新, 舊, 破, 壞) and explain sentence patterns for using these adjectives.
  4. Class action time: Michaela, Caitlin, Michaela.
  5. Game time: Pin the tail on the donkey.

Procedure for MS 3P (11/15/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to gain cultural knowledge about Chinese art.  2) Students will learn and reinforce terms for body parts and through various activities.

Homework: Complete your art project and practice your oral presentation.


  1. 1) Return draft #2 and quiz papers.  2) Showcase Chinese tea, Chinese chess and mahjong.  3) Art project due this Wednesday and oral presentation is Thursday.  4) Treat for winners ….  More tangram pieces activity to go.
  2. Pass out/Go over body part handout.
  3. Song time: Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes.
  4. Game time: Simon Says.
  5. Go over oral presentation sentences.

Procedure for MS 5P (11/15/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to gain reading fluency through cite reading passages.  2) Students will be able to learn objectives and structure of new lesson/summary handout.  3) Students will learn Chinese version “Happy Birthday” Song.

Homework: 1) Review and practice reading sentences 1-3.  2) Write definitions for Lesson Five new characters.


  1. 1) Take one copy of Lesson Five characters worksheet.  2) Return typing papers, test papers and characters worksheet.  3) Showcase one high school skit video clip.  4) Audio files for Lesson Five were sent to you yesterday.  Make good use of them, please.
  2. Go over common writing mistakes (啊, 進, 快).
  3. Go over study strategies for pronunciation and making sentences.
  4. Introduce a website tool: www.cozyChinese.com (Convert utility).
  5. Introduce structure of Review Sounds 1 handout.  Go over 3 sentences.
  6. Read text passages on pages 23-25.
  7. Overview Lesson Five.
