Procedures for 11/30/10

Procedure for HS 1P (11/30/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to finish up viewing a DVD about pandas in China.  2) Students will be able to gain oral fluency through cite reading.  3) Students will be able to know the format of the letter of recommendation in Common Application and in NSLI-Y scholarship.

Homework: 1) Review newly learned sentences.  2) WB page 27 Section B.

Procedure:

1.   1) Take one copy of Conversation Questions handout and one copy of Lesson Five text passages slip.  2) Ms. Chang checks completeness of your WB page 28.  3) Go over answer key to WB page.  4) Introduce Common Application and NSLI-Y scholarship (Letter of Recommendation).

2.   Take turns quick reading: Review Sounds 1 Handout (#10-#24).

3.   DVD: China: The Panda Adventure.

4.   Teach new characters (知, 道).

Procedure for HS 2P (11/30/10)

目標: 1) Students will be able to know the format of the letter of recommendation in the Common Application and the NSLI-Y scholarship program.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their reading, writing, and listening skills through various activities: cite reading, listening comprehension and rearranging sentences.

功課: Practice reading text passages on pages 3-5.  Count as participation grade on Thursday.

程序:

1.   1) Take one copy of HS Floor plan handout.  2) Lesson One chapter test Part II: Monday/Tuesday, 12/6 or 12/7.  3) Ms. Chang checks the completeness of your WB page 5.  4) Go over answer key to WB page.  5) Introduce Common Application (Letter of Recommendation) & NSLI-Y Scholarship (Letter of Recommendation).

2.   Quick review / explain (英漢詞典, 自己, 用, 忘記 = 不記得 ó 記得, 一定, 還, 計算機, 借, 難, 如果 // 對不起, 沒關係, 請問, 請進, 第, 年, 班, 教室, 哪裡, 教學, 棟, 大樓, 行政, 就, 圖書館, 禮堂, 新來的, 左邊, 右邊, 可是, 校長室, 也, 帶, 去, 謝謝, 先, 常).

Procedure for HS 9P (11/30/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to sharpen their listening/reading/speaking skills through various activities: cite reading, listening comprehension, and conversation routine.  2) Students will be able to know the format of the letter of recommendation in Common Application and NSLI-Y Scholarship.

功課: 1) Practice conversation questions for tomorrow.  2) Practice reading passages on pages 32-34.  Will count for participation grade on Thursday.

Procedure:

1.   1) Turn in HW: WB page 28.  2) Quick review (新的, 舊的, 破的, 壞的, 另外, 半夜, 起床, 睡覺, 唱歌, 打電話, 吃飯, 看漫畫, 做功課, 打太極拳, 拳頭, 修理). 3) Introduce Common Application (Letter of Recommendation) & NSLI-Y Scholarship (Letter of Recommendation).

2.   Mismatch activity: Simple listening comprehension.  Take turns answering questions. Count for participation grade. — Conclusion?

3.   1) Listening activity: WB page 21.  2) Go over answer key to WB page.

4.   Listening/reviewing activity: (不見了, 都, 也, 呢).

5.   Pair activity: practice reading text passages on page 34.

Procedure for MS 3P (11/30/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn/practice greeting terms.  2) Students will be able to write simple Chinese characters.  3) Students will gain cultural knowledge about Chinese language system.

Homework: 1) Review learned terms.  2) Complete writing learned characters.

Procedure:

1.   1) Turn in your signature slip.  2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Lao Shi, Zai Jian).

2.   Teach new terms (Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Wu An, Wan An).

3.   Building community activity.

4.   Culture reading: Chinese language and The writing.

5.   1) Pass out/Go over square paper.  2) Learn writing Chinese characters (日, 月, 山, 木).

Procedure for MS 5P (11/30/10)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to acquire new characters.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their listening/speaking/reading skills through various activities: cite reading, listening comprehension and conversation.

Homework: 1) Practice reading Review Sounds 1 sentences.  2) WB page 27 Section B.

Procedure:

2.   1) Quick review (筆/笔, 毛筆/笔, 書/书, 書/书, 尺, 剪刀, 橡皮).  2) Take turns quick reading (Review Sounds 1 handout (#10-#24).

3.   Teach new characters (知, 道, 嗎)–知道, 不知道, 知道嗎?

4.   1) Go over conversation questions handout.  2) Group activity: a) Speaking practice (知道, 不知道) w/objects.  b) Speaking practice (是…嗎 => 是 / 不是) w/objects or identity.

5.   Wrapping up: Question session w/Ms. Chang.
