Procedures for 1/5/11

Procedure for HS 1P (1/5/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review and acquire more new characters in Lesson Six.  2) Students will be able to get familiar with sentence patterns in their family picture activity.  3) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions between Chinese/other cultures.

Homework: 1) Fill in Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.  2) Write new characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Missing pictures (Josh, Claire).  Makeup work (Darian, Troy).  2) Quick review of learned characters (爸, 媽, 哥, 弟, 姊, 姐, 妹).
  2. Review/Teach new characters (歲, 家, 有, 個).  2) Practice conversation (There are …people in my family; This is my…; He/She is …years old).
  3. Movie time.

Procedure for HS 2P (1/5/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions between Chinese/other cultures.  2) Students will be able to review for chapter test next Monday.  3) Students will start a new lesson today.

功課: 1) Fill in Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.  2) WB page 14.  3) Lesson Two Characters worksheet definitions.

程序:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lesson Two characters worksheet.  2) Explain term: 健忘.  3) Read text page 15 (bottom page)
  2. Go over extra discussion questions.
  3. Movie time.
  4. If time allows, go over new characters (遠, 近 ó 進, 離, 里) and terms (英里, 公里, 走路, 有多 < adj. >, A離 B有多遠, 不到, 將近, 自行車, 公車).

Procedure for HS 9P (1/5/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to showcase their mastery of colors.  2) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions between Chinese/other cultures.

功課: Fill out Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.

Procedure:

1.   1) Makeup work (James, Colin, Antoniio, Nathaniel—New Year’s Resolutions).  2) Quick review.  Questions?  3) Lesson Four Mini Quiz #1 (colors).

2.   Movie time.

Procedure for MS 3P (1/5/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to finish up oral presentation draft #1 today.  2) Students will be able to learn how to type pinyin online for their PPT/movie art project.

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Review terms (baba, mama, gege, didi, jiejie, meimei, sui, jia, you, ge ren, he).  2) Teach new terms (sheng ri, nian, liang).
  2. Introduce the Website for inputting Chinese pinyin.
  3. Introduce Chinese date format.
  4. Explain/Write sentences #4-#5.

Procedure for MS 5P (1/5/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to gain fluency in reading sentences.  2) Students will be able to finalize their semester exam questions.

Homework: 1) Practice reading Review Sounds 2 sentences.  2) Finish up semester exam writing section problems.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your New Year Resolutions H/W assignment.  2) Missing pictures (Anthony, Paige, Kerem, Alison, Ted, Keiichi, Alan, Kate).  3) Kate and Alison talk to Ms. Chang after class, please.  4) Bring your WB tomorrow, please.
  2. 1) Take turns reading (#1-#14).  2) Go over / finish up Review Sounds 2 handout (#15-#22).  3) Quick review characters (爸, 媽, 哥, 弟, 姊, 姐, 妹).
  3. Group work: Finalize your semester exam problems.  Submit your work to your captain/assistant captain by midnight, today.  Captains/assistants report to Ms. Chang tomorrow.  Group captains submit your final work to Ms. Chang by midnight, Thursday.
  4. Preview conversation questions (There are .. people in my family; This is my…; He/she is …years old).
