Procedures for 1/6/11

Procedure for HS 1P (1/6/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions between China and other countries.  2) Students will be able to practice conversation about family.

Homework: 1) Fill out Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.  2) Practice conversation questions.

Procedure:

1.   1) Bring your WB tomorrow.  2) Quick review (爸, 媽, 哥, 弟, 姊, 姐, 妹, 的, 家, 有, 個, 今, 年, 歲).

2.   Movie time.

3.   Conversation practice: 1) I am < name >, 2) I < # > years old, 3) There are < # > people in my family, 4) This is my < family member >, and 5) He/She is < # > years old) .

4.   Pair activity: 1) Read all sentences in the Review Sounds 2 handout.  2) Conversation questions handout.

Procedure for HS 2P (1/6/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to talk about modes of transportation and distance.  2) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions and value systems between Chinese/other cultures.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) Fill out Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.

程序:

1.   1) Check WB page 14.  2) Go over answer key to WB page 14.  3) Turn in / e-mail Movie Discussion Questions worksheet tomorrow.

2.   Teach new characters & terms (遠, 近 ó 進, 離, 里, 英里, 公里, 走路, 有多 < adj. >, A離 B有多遠, 不到, 將近, 自行車, 公車)—很遠, 不遠, 挺遠的, 很近, 不近, 挺近的, 有多久? 有多遠? 有多近? 有多餓? 有多渴?

3.   Movie discussion time.  Questions?

Procedure for HS 9P (1/6/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to compare/contrast traditions between Chinese and other cultures.  2) Students will be able to talk about clothing, including colors and types of clothes.

功課: 1) Fill out Movie Discussion Questions worksheet.  Due tomorrow.  2) Write new characters.

Procedure:

1.   1) Return quiz papers.  2) Semester exam oral part: 1/12, 1/13, and 1/14 (mismatch activity , colors/clothing items—What clothes are you wearing?).  3) Lesson Four mini quiz #2 (clothing items): Friday, 1/28/11.

2.   Teach new characters (裙, 褲/裤, 鞋, 襪/袜, 短) and terms (毛衣, 上衣, 大衣, 內衣, 外衣, 游泳衣, 外套, 手套, 裙子, 褲/裤子, 鞋子, 襪/袜子, 短褲/裤, 長褲/裤, 游泳褲/裤).

3.   Movie time.

Procedure for MS 3P (1/6/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn terms for sports.  2) Students will be able to practice oral presentation sentences.

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

1.   1) Quick review (baba, mama, gege, didi, jiejie, meimei, sui, jia, you, ge ren, he, sheng ri, de, nian, liang, yue).  2) Makeup work (Julia G.).  3) Introduce MS Chinese I class students.

2.   1) Pair activity: read your sentences #1-#5 to your partner.  2) Collect oral presentation draft #1.

3.   Pass out / go over sports handout.

4.   Video: Chinese Language (Chinese rapping song).

Procedure for MS 5P (1/6/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to finalize their semester exam problem sets.  2) Students will be able to review and acquire new characters in Lesson Six.  3) Students will be able to review learned consonants and vowels.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Practice conversation questions and Review Sounds 2 sentences.

Procedure:

1.  1) Captains report H/W submission status.  2) Captains/Assistants submit complete problem sets by midnight tonight.

2.   1) Listening comprehension: WB page 5 / Sections E and F.  2) Go over answer key.

3.   Review and teach new characters (爸, 媽, 哥, 弟, 姊, 姐, 妹, 的, 今, 年, 歲, 家, 有, 個).

4.   Pair activity: Practice conversation (There are < # > people in my family; This is my < family member>; He/She is …years old.

5.   Pair activity: 1) Read all sentences in the Review Sounds 2 handout.  2) Conversation questions handout.
