Procedures for 1/11/11

Procedure for HS 1P (1/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review/practice conversation questions for their semester oral exam.  2) Students will be able to acquire new characters in Lesson Six.

Homework: 1) Writing new characters.  2) Practice conversation questions and Review Sounds 2 sentences.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (爸, 媽, 哥, 弟, 姊, 姐, 妹, 的, 家, 有, 個, 今, 年, 歲).  2) Missing work (Troy, Darian, Stefan).
  2. Teach new characters (和, 也, 工, 護, 士).
  3. DVD: Chinese paper-cut folk art (The Road Home movie).
  4. Practice conversation questions.  Questions?

Procedure for HS 2P (1/11/11)

目標: Students will be able to review and compile semester exam problem sets.

功課: Problem sets due on Thursday.

程序:

  1. 1) Check your Lesson Two characters definitions worksheet.  2) Return Lesson One Chapter Test Part II.  Questions and comments?  3) Take one copy of Study Guide for Chinese III: First Semester Exam.
  2. Go over Study Guide.
  3. Group work.

Procedure for HS 9P (1/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review for their oral and semester exam problem sets today.  2) Students will be able to acquire new characters today.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) Review learned terms (places and action verbs) for Mismatch activity (listening comprehension).  3) Practice describing colors/clothes items.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Make sure you turn in your problem sets.  2) Quick review (黑色, 白色, 紅色, 黃色, 藍色, 綠色, 紫色, 棕色, 灰色, 粉紅色, 橙色, 橘色, 咖啡色, 毛衣, 上衣, 大衣, 內衣, 外衣, 游泳衣, 外套, 手套, 裙子, 褲/裤子, 鞋子, 襪/袜子, 短褲/裤, 長褲/裤, 游泳褲/裤, 皮鞋, 球鞋).  3) Mismatch activity (Eddie, Adam F., Bryan, Jacklyn, Kate, Michaela, Colin, Pamela, Ryan, Wyatt, John, Adam Y.) tomorrow.  May start conducting one conversation question of describing colors/clothing items.
  2. Teach new terms (穿, 裝, 襯, 衫, 恤) with terms (西裝, 洋裝, 襯/衬衫, T恤).
  3. Introduce a sentence pattern: < subject > 穿 < adjective: color > < cloth item>, < adjective: color > < cloth item>, etc.
  4. Group work: practice describing colors/clothes items.

Procedure for MS 3P (1/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to complete 1 sentence for oral presentation draft #2 today.  2) Students will be able to learn 4 new colors today.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Makeup work (Liana: colored note cards, quiz #3; Amber).  2) Quick review (Hei Se, Bai Se, Hong Se, Huang Se).  3) Teach new term (Lu Se, Lan Se, Zong Se, Cheng Se).  4.  List of 7B students: (Anthony, Jamie, Nicholas, Julia H., Amber, Samantha P., Daniel)?  Will report to study hall at 3P on 1/20/11 due to Ms. Chang’s schedule conflict that day (HS semester exam).
  2. 1) Complete sentence (My phone number is ….).  2) Pair reading: sentences #1-#7.
  3. Culture reading: go over all 12 animal terms.
  4. Zodiac DVD.

Procedure for MS 5P (1/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to continue their oral exam today.  2) Students will be able to study for their mid term.

Homework: Study!!

Procedure:

  1. 1) Corrections on students’ problem sets?  2) Questions on Study Guide?
  2. Seat work: writing sentences about your family members.  (There are # people in my family; I have < family member >, < family members >, etc., This is my < family member >, He/She is < # > years old, He/She is < profession >).  Repeat # times for # of people in the family.  Collect.
  3. 10-12 students will be randomly drawn for taking a first semester oral exam (3 Review Sounds2 sentences, conversation questions).
  4. Study for mid-term (Review Sounds 2 handout sentences, conversation questions, writing practice, study guide).
