Procedures for 1/31/11

Procedure for HS 1P (1/31/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will showcase their speaking/reading skills through an oral presentation.  2) Students will be able to acquire new characters and learn how to introduce themselves.

Homework: 1) WB page 38.  2) Practice Happy New Year song. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Juniors + Darian, please show Ms. Chang your WB page 36.  2) Draw a number for the oral presentation order.  Your two copies of scripts are due today.  Turn in one copy to Ms. Chang even though you are not presenting today.  3) Lesson Six chapter test: Monday, 2/7/11.  4) Song time.  5) Round robin reading + introducing yourself + caroling + cooking + cleaning up all count for participation grades for this week.
  2. Oral presentation (freshmen and sophomore, please).

Procedure for HS 2P (1/31/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to express how they get to school, how far it is between two places, how long it takes to get from one place to another place in various transportation modes. 2)

功課: 1) Make 4 sentences (左右, 怎麼 (verb), 要不要 (verb) = 要 (verb) 嗎, 哪一counting word + noun).  2) Practice Happy New Year song.  3) Write new characters (展, 換, 站, 用).    

程序:

  1. 1) Lesson Two quiz #1 (transportation modes, adverbs—simple matching + writing): Tuesday, 2/8/11.  2) Song time.  3) Course recommendation: Repeat current level (low grades or weak base of knowledge) — mark that on your scheduling worksheet and on the roster, which goes to guidance.  Parents must still sign a waiver if they wish to override my recommendations.  4) Round robin reading + conversation questions + caroling + cooking + cleaning up all count for participation grades for this week.
  2. 1) Quick review characters (汽, 趕, 只, 坐, 摩, 托) and terms (不過, 汽水, 水汽, 趕快, 只要, 只有, 因為…所以, 沒, 鐘頭, 小時, 幾 = 多).  2) Practice reading text passage 19.  3) Conversation practice.  Round robin reading starts from tomorrow to Wednesday.  Count for this week’s participation grade.
  3. Teach new/Review old terms (美術館, 科學館, 左右, 怎麼 (verb), 可以 = 行, 知道, 哪裡, (哪裡, 哪裡), 哪一個 =哪個, 哪一國人= 哪國人, 哪一件 = 哪件, 要不要 (verb) = 要 (verb) 嗎, 校門口, 畫展, 換, 站, 用, 下車).

Procedure for HS 9P (1/31/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to describe how clothes fit.  2) Students will be able to practice their reading/speaking fluency through reading text passages and conversation questions.

Homework: 1) Review Happy New Year song.  2) Practice reading text passage on page 44.  3) Write new characters (漂, 亮, 髦, 配).      

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your 2-sentence homework.  2) Lesson Two chapter test: Friday, 2/11/11.  3) Makeup work (Jay, Michaela, Aashna, Melissa, Benita, Caelan, Nathaniel).  Finish up by the end of tomorrow.
  2. 1) Song time.  2) Round robin reading + conversation questions start from tomorrow to Wednesday.   Round robin + conversation questions + caroling + cooking + cleaning up all count for participation grades for this week.
  3. Review old/Teach new characters (漂, 亮, 髦, 配) with terms (舒服, 合身, 漂亮, 時髦, 大, 小, 寬, 窄, 長, 短, 該, 那麼, 好看, 怎麼樣, 挺).
  4. 1) Practice reading text passage on pages 44-45.  2) Pair activity: write five sentences to describe how clothes fit.  It should include a name (a person), a color, a clothes type and an adjective for each sentence.  Complete as homework tonight.

Procedure for MS 3P (1/31/11)

Objectives:  Students will be able to be exposed to Chinese folk art: cutting papers.

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian, Zhang Lao Shi, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi, Wu An, Wan An).  2) Quick review (sun, moon, person/people, mountain, fire, tree).  3) Makeup work (Kelley, Kaylee V., Riley, Nicole, Colin).  4) Quiz #1 this Friday.
  2. Pass out/cut paper patterns (double happiness, longevity).
  3. Skit preparation.

Procedure for MS 5P (1/31/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to introduce their name in various ways.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their reading/speaking skills through reading text passages.  3) Students will be able to present their family.

Homework: 1) Practice reading passage on page 46.  2) Practice introducing yourself.  3) Practice reading your family paragraph.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Makeup work (Marissa? + Megan G.? + Kate + Jacki + Brandon H.? + Cole?: WB page 35).  2) Quick review (姓名, 名字, 呢).  3) Simple reading text passages on page 46 and conversation questions start  introduction practice (你叫什麼名字? 你的名字是什麼?).  4) Round robin from tomorrow to Wednesday.   Round robin reading + introducing yourself + caroling + cooking + cleaning up all count for participation grades for this week.  5) Song time.
  2. Read text passage on page 46.
  3. Oral presentation.
  4. Conversation time: practice introducing yourself.
