Procedures for 2/17/11

Procedure for HS 1P (2/17/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to brainstorm and draft their skit for Lessons 5, 6, and 7.

Homework: 1) Brainstorm/draft your skit.  2) Master all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lessons 5, 6 and 7 skit.  Go over checklist—due on 2/24/11.  2) Makeup work (Claire, Darian, Troy).  3) Clarify Sections 3 & 4.  Exchange / Grade Grammar review worksheet.  Collect.
  2. 1) Quick review (狗, 貓, 鳥, 金, 魚, 馬, 隻, 條, 匹).  2) Pair work: skit.

Procedure for HS 2P (2/17/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to carry out amazing race competition.  2) Students will be able to give and follow directions.

功課: 1) Study passage on page 22.  2) Practice giving directions from place to place.  3) WB page 22.     

程序:

  1. Makeup work (Ben, Kaitlyn: models and WB page 23).  2) Go over Amazing Race details (wrist band, portfolio with a pen, bag, envelopes with questions/answers (pictures or realia), stamps, sign in your name, etc).  3) Go over major classroom / office terms (主辦公室, 體育辦公室, 出勤辦公室, 輔導辦公室, 紅電腦室, 圖書館, 美術教室).  4) Review various tasks (fruits, weather, money, cutting paper patterns, tangram pieces, origami, clothes, math equation)
  2. Read text passage on page 22.
  3. Pair activity: Finish up two activity sheets (reading comprehension, conversation).
  4. Seat work: WB page 22.  Questions?

Procedure for HS 9P (2/17/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to express money verbally and in writing.  2) Students will be able to brainstorm/draft their skit.    

Homework: Study for quiz (expressing money) tomorrow. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your 5-sentence writing assignment.  2) Take one copy of Lessons 4-5 Skit Checklist.  3) Makeup work (WB page 37: Ryan, Adam Y.; characters definitions: Cait).  4) Return chapter test papers / character worksheet.  Collect chapter test paper. 
  2. Practice 1) expressing money 2) sentence patterns for asking prices on dry erase board.  Quiz tomorrow.   
  3. Introduce a new sentence pattern “有沒有 < adjective > 一點的?” to ask for availability of goods.
  4. Pair work: Study skit requirement and draft your skit.  / Ms. Chang checks students’ ability to say money orally.

Procedure for MS 3P (2/17/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to introduce themselves by saying their name, age, number of people in the family, their family members and their birthday.  2) Students will be able to gain cultural knowledge about Chinese school system and arts.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (baba, mama, gege, didi, jiejie, meimei, sui, jia, you, ge ren).  2) Makeup work (Colin/Mat: characters writing, quiz #2; Nathan M.)
  2. 1) Teach new terms (he, de, liang, nian, sheng ri).  2) Explain Chinese date format and teach sentence patterns for expressing birthday and introducing family members.  3) Complete  sentence #4-#5.

**  Fire drill during 3P.

Procedure for MS 5P (2/17/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to brainstorm and draft their skit for Lessons 5, 6, and 7.

Homework: 1) Brainstorm/draft your skit.  2) Master all learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Makeup work (Jubilee, Karli, Collin, Anthony, Logan: Grammar review sheet; Cole: audacity/video quiz/character definitions).  2) Go over answer key to Grammar Review worksheet.  Exchange / Grade the papers.  Collect.  3) Practice reading text passage on page 54.
  2. 1) Quick review (狗, 貓, 鳥, 金, 魚, 馬, 隻, 條, 匹).  2) Enrichment: go over animal supplementary terms.  3) Video: Pin yin in 6 minutes.
  3. Pair work: skit.
