Procedures for 2/15/11

Procedure for HS 1P (2/15/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to share information about their family pets and describe how those pets are.  2) Students will be able to gain historical knowledge about life in ancient Chinese cities.

Homework: Write new characters. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your H/W—characters definitions.  2) Go over common mistake (白大三, 保羅, 士, 土, 人, 沒, 姓).  3) Return papers (audacity).  4) Makeup work (Shaina: audios/Web quest; Darian: chapter test / audacity / family paragraph; Claire: audacity/Web quest/audios; Abbt: Web Quest/audios).
  2. Cooking lesson picture slide show / Chinese caroling video.
  3. Video w/quiz: China—from past to present: Life in Ancient Capital Cities.
  4. Teach new characters (狗, 貓).

Procedure for HS 2P (2/15/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to hold conversation in various settings.  2) Students will be able to build solid foundation of sentence patterns in this lesson. 

功課: 1) WB page 23.  2) 2 models due tomorrow.   

程序:

  1. 1) Take one set of Lesson Two Activity sheet.  2) Cooking lesson picture slide show / Chinese caroling video.  3) Review characters (市, 心, 場, 逛, 街) with terms (市中心, 小心, 愛心, 中心, 行人, 市場, 逛街, 運動場, 棒球場, 足球場).  4) Amazing Race: Friday.  Conversation question: Tuesday, 2/22.  5) Class note for money was sent out last night.  6)  Round robin reading this Thursday.  7) Check/confirm your origami and kirigami copies.
  2. Read text passage on page 22.
  3. Class work: WB page 23.  Complete as homework tonight.
  4. Pair/Group work: Activity sheet (for chapter test reading comprehension).

Procedure for HS 9P (2/15/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to express prices in Chinese money unit. 

Homework: 1) WB page 37.  2) Write new characters. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your Lesson Four characters worksheet.  2) Captains check characters definitions.   3) Audacity recording: Thursday, 2/24.  Lesson Five quiz #1 (money expression) is on this Friday (Pep rally).  Practice on dry erase board tomorrow and Thursday.  4) Makeup test (Cait).  5) Check ProgressBook for accuracy.  Interim reports will be passed out on this Friday, 2/25/11.
  2. 1) Go over common writing mistakes (恤, 淺, 深, 漂, 裙, 挺, 襪/袜).  2) Chinese caroling video.
  3. Teach new terms (塊, 錢, 香, 蕉) with terms (香蕉, 香水).
  4. Teach 4 different money expressions (塊, 錢, 毛, 分): 1) even dollars (#2, #4, #5, #6), 2) half dollars (#3, #7, #14), 3) no dimes (#9, #11, #16, #19), and 4) regular/common money (#1, #8, #10, #12, #13, #15, #17, #18, #20)—class note has been sent to your e-mail account!!
  5. Practice reading text passages on pages 46-47 and 55.

Procedure for MS 3P (2/15/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to acquire terms for family members.  2) Students will be able to explore tangram pieces game.  3) Students will be able to gain historical/cultural knowledge about scenic spots and historical sites.

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your number characters worksheet & connecting the Dots worksheet.  2) Quick review.  3) Quiz #2.
  2. Cooking lesson picture slide show.
  3. Teach new terms (baba, mama, gege, didi, jiejie, meimei).
  4. DVD: places in China.
  5. Tangram pieces.

Procedure for MS 5P (2/15/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review previously learned grammars.  2) Students will be able to gain historical knowledge about life in ancient Chinese capital cities.

Homework: Finish review grammar worksheet.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Grammar Review Worksheet.  2) Captains checks H/W—characters definition.  3) Return papers (Kyle, Ryan, etc).  4) Makeup work (chapter test: Jordan).  5) Go over common mistakes (白大三).  6) Quick review (狗, 貓, 鳥, 金, 魚).
  2. Go over Chinese Valentine story.
  3. Learn Old McDonald song in Chinese version.
  4. Video w/quiz: China—from past to present—Life in Ancient Capital Cities.  Collect.
  5. Pair work: complete the grammar review sheet.
