Procedures for 2/24/11

Procedure for HS 1P (2/24/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to gain cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac legend. 

Homework: 1) WB page 45 Section F / page 46 Section G.  2) Skit / presentation due tomorrow.   

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your WB pages 42/44 assignment.  Go over the answer key.  2) Quick review (狗, 貓/猫, 鳥/鸟, 金, 魚/鱼, 馬/马, 隻/只, 條/条, 匹, 寵/宠, 物, 大, 小, 很, 兇, 可, 愛, 真, 啊, 牠).
  2. Listening activity: WB page Sections B / E.  Go over answer key.
  3. 1) Introduce supplementary terms (動, 跑, 來, 去, 都).  2) Go over enrichment materials (more supplementary terms for animals).
  4. Pair listening activity: Which families have the same pets?  Answers: Part A: 1.  Mary; 2.  Charles;  3.  James;  4.  Hellen;  5.  Susan;  6.  William; 7.  Christine;  8.  John ó Part B: 1.  Ben; 2.  Richard; 3.  Kate; 4.  Paul;  5.  Maria; 6.  Julia;  7.  Robert;  8.  Lucy Conversation questions.

Procedure for HS 2P (2/24/11)

目標: Students will be able to give direction in a simulated town setting. 

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) WB page 28.

程序:

  1. 1) Makeup work (WB page 22: Josiah, Lauren, Alex, Ben).  2) Quick review (開車 / 騎自行車 /騎摩托車 / 坐火車 / 騎車 / 走路 / 坐遊覽車; 銀行 / 市場 / 百貨公司 / 醫院 / 動物園; 上班 / 買菜 /上學).  3) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 24.  Will e-mail your answer key to WB pages 22/24, if you are done.
  2. Teach new terms (參, 觀, 寺, 廟, 座) with terms (參加, 參觀, 寺廟, 一座山).

Procedure for HS 9P (2/24/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to showcase their fluency of Lesson Four text passages.  2) Students will be able to utilize website tools for their oral proficiency.   

功課: Work on your skit.  Due/present on next Thursday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one headset, one copy of highlighted text passages, and one copy of video questions.  2) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 42.
  2. Make recording.  Save it as < last name > LessonFour.WAV.  Submit to Ms. Chang’s HS9P folder in O drive.
  3. Go to P drive and review Lessons Four and Five by playing Ni Hao 2 Review game.
  4. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/real_chinese/shopping/ to view introduction about Shopping, 2) click Start, Next to proceed, 3) click challenge button to answer a quiz of 5 questions, 4) click shorter video link on right-hand side menu to view video.
  5. Please try other topics by going back to BBC Real-Chinese page, http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/real_chinese/, and click various topics under Real Chinese tab on left-hand side menu to watch slide show, learn useful phrases, read cultural notes and take quizzes in challenge section.  You can only watch the shorter video (for low-bandwidth and non-UK users).  The videos on the screen cannot be displayed in the US.
  6. Go to http://personal.kenyon.edu/bai/vcsc.htm and click BuyingADress and Clothing links to review terms for your skit.

Procedure for MS 3P (2/24/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to talk about their preferences of animals, sports and colors.  2) Students will be able to gain knowledge about Chinese zodiac legend.

Homework: Review all color terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return quiz papers.  2) Quick review (hong se, huang se, hei se, lan se, lu se, zong se, zi se).  3) Teach new terms (cheng se, hui se, fen hong se).
  2. 1) Teach new terms (xi huan, zui).  2) Pass out/ go over sports handout.  3) Teach supplementary terms.
  3. Build sentences #8, #9, and #10.  Collect.
  4. Culture reading: Chinese Tai Qi / Chinese Food.
  5. DVD: Chinese Zodiac Animals.

Procedure for MS 5P (2/24/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to introduce and describe family and pets.

Homework: Practice reading Lesson Seven text passages.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Jubilee / Jacky / Megan G., / Collin / Kyle / Megan S. / Marissa / Ted / Anthony are allowed to leave at the end of 5A to attend your orchestra performance.  Check out Ms. Chang’s daily blog for any missed activity.  2) Turn in your skit with checklist.  3) Captains check WB pages 42/44 assignment.  4) Makeup work at 6B (Cole).
  2. Skit presentation.
  3. Read Lesson Seven text passages on pages
  4. Conversation questions practice.
