Procedures for 2/7/11

Procedure for HS 1P (2/7/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to sharpen their speaking, writing, reading and listening skills through an interview activity.  2) Students will be able to finish up the oral presentation about their family.

Homework: 1) WB page 40.  2) Practice reading text passages on pages 43-46.  3) Practice introducing yourself.   

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return all oral presentation papers.  2) Makeup work (Jason/Claire/Josh/Darian: WB page 35; Josh: WB page 36; Troy: WB page 38.  Please check ProgressBook for accuracy.  3) Ms. Chang is not available tomorrow after school due to a staff meeting.  4) Course recommendation: Make sure Ms. Chang signs your form.  Due date is this Wednesday.  HR teachers need to return all forms to guidance office.  5) Lesson Six chapter test: Thursday, 2/10.  6) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 39 interview questions.  7) Feedback on cooking lesson?       
  2. Song time/procedure details (candy, cameras, etc).   
  3. Class work: WB page 39 interview (5 students) + jot down your survey result + sharing, if time allows.
  4. Oral presentation (Josh, Shaina, Darian).

Procedure for HS 2P (2/7/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to sharpen their speaking, writing, reading and listening skills through an interview activity.  2) Students will polish their reading and speaking skills through reading text passage.

功課: 1) Practice reading text page 20.  2) WB page 21 #1-#3. 

程序:

  1. 1) Return H/W papers.  2) Ms. Chang is not available tomorrow after school due to a staff meeting.  3) Course recommendation: due date is this Wednesday.  Ms. Chang needs to return all forms to guidance office on Thursday.  4) Lesson Two quiz #1 is postponed from 2/8 to Friday, 2/11.  Simple matching (transportation mode, adverbs and writing).  5) Feedback on cooking lesson?
  2. Ms. Chang checks your WB page 18 #8 and page 20.  Go over the answer key.
  3. 1) Song time/procedure details (candy, cameras, etc).  2) Pass out T-shirt / transfer—bring it with you tomorrow for singing!
  4. 1) Quick review (美術館, 科學館, 左右, 怎麼 (verb), 可以 = 行, 知道, 哪裡, (哪裡, 哪裡), 哪一個 =哪個, 哪一國人= 哪國人, 哪一件 = 哪件, 要不要 (verb) = 要 (verb) 嗎, 校門口, 畫展, 換車, 站, 用 ó不用 (use, no need), 下車, 下課, 想, 怎麼去, 怎麼走, 在哪裡 / 哪一站 (verb) ó 哪裡是 (place)).  2) Read text passages on pages 18-20.
  5. Class work: WB page 19 interview activity / jot down your answers / Share your results.

Procedure for HS 9P (2/7/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn to ask for others’ opinions and/or express his/her opinions.  2) Students will be able to polish their writing and speaking skills through conversation practice and writing 2 sample sentences.

Homework: 1) Practice sentence patterns of asking/expressing opinions (text page 45) for oral conversation questions.  2) WB page 32. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Lots of missing work for the last few days (Melissa, Brad, Aashna, Adam F., etc).  Please check ProgressBook for accuracy.  2) Return all papers.  3)  Review terms (舒服, 合身, 漂亮,時髦, 大, 小, 寬, 窄, 長, 短, , 那麼, 好看 ó 不好看, 怎麼樣, 挺, 配).  4) Course recommendation: due date is this Wednesday.  5) Wait for Mrs. Davidoff’s feedback for your participation grade.  6) Feedback on cooking lesson?  7) Lesson Four chapter test will be rescheduled from Friday, 2/11 to Monday, 2/14.  8) Mrs. Welch and Mr. DeTray will observe Ms. Chang’s teaching sometime this week.

  3. 1) Quick review (你看, 怎麼樣, 配, 好看 ó 不好看, 那麼, 呢, 挺).  2) Practice describing how clothes fit.  3) Practice asking/expressing one’s opinion (怎麼樣, 你看).
  4. Pair activity: Practice asking/expressing opinions. 

Procedure for MS 3P (2/7/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review for tomorrow’s quiz.  2) Students will be able to brainstorm ideas of their art project by checking out more sample work.  3) Students will be able to gain cultural knowledge about Chinese New Year.

Homework: 1) Study for quiz tomorrow.  2) Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Question: 7W to CVCC.  Which period?  This Thursday have Exploratory Chinese at room 221.  Mr. Farrell and PSO need to use our classroom.  2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian, Zhang Lao Shi, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi, Wu An, Wan An, Zao, Ni Zao, Zao An, Zao Shang Hao, Tong Xue Men Hao, Shang Ke, Xia Ke, Qi Li, Jing Li).  Quiz #1 tomorrow.  3) Makeup work (Liberty–characters, Matt—script copy).
  2. Skit presentation, if any.
  3. Cultural reading: page 6.  Collect your handout.
  4. Teach new terms (yi, er, san, si) w/ Chinese characters.
  5. Videos: Chinese New Year celebration.
  6. Showcase more art project samples (PPTs, movies, crafts).

Procedure for MS 5P (2/7/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will practice introducing themselves in various ways.  2) Students will continue their family oral presentation.  3) Students will gain fluency through reading text passages.

Homework: 1) Study for audacity and chapter test.  2) Practice reading text passages on pages 43-46.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return papers.  Remind Ms. Chang of any missing grades.  Check ProgressBook for accuracy.  2) Captains check WB page 40.  Go over answer key.  3) Makeup work (Brandon, Kate).  Welcome back (Megan S.).  4) Audacity: Wednesday; chapter test: Friday.  We will review all sentence patterns and terms tomorrow.  5) Feedback on cooking lesson?  Wait for Mrs. Beech for your participation grade.
