Procedures for 2/8/11

Procedure for HS 1P (2/8/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to celebrate Chinese New Year by visiting other FL classrooms to sing a Happy New Year song, to build a sense of community, and to introduce Chinese cultural traditions (greetings and red envelope).  2) Students will be able to finish up new characters in Lesson Six.

Homework: 1) Study for chapter test.  2) Practice reading text passages on pages 45-46.

Procedure:

1.      Song time/line up/greetings and handing out red envelopes (Darian—photographer) => show time (Mrs. Bartzis, Mrs. Nowacki, Mrs. Pariano—quiet in the hallways).

2.      1) Makeup work (Josh: WB pages 35/36).  Audacity recording: Monday, 2/14/11.  2) Check out news about President Obama’s “One Hundred Thousand Strong” initiative—to 100,000 Americans to study in China in four years.  2) Scholarship opportunity for seniors to study in Taiwan.  Talk to Ms. Chang for details.  3) Course recommendation.  4) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 40.  Go over the answer key.\

4.      1) Teach new characters (保, 羅, 麗) with terms (保護, 麗人).  2) Read text passages on pages 45-46.

Procedure for HS 2P (2/8/11)

目標: 1) Students will be able to celebrate Chinese New Year by visiting other FL classroom to sing a Happy New Year song, to build a sense of community and to introduce Chinese traditions.  2) Students will be able to express where/how to take/transfer bus and follow the direction to get to a destination.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) Practice reading first half of text on page 21.

Procedure for HS 9P (2/8/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to practice expressing their opinions of how clothes fit.  2) Students will be able to acquire more new characters in Lesson Six.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Read pages 44-45.

Procedure:

1.      1) Turn in 2 pairs of asking/expressing opinions sentences.  2) Check out news about President Obama’s “One Hundred Thousand Strong” initiative—to 100,000 Americans to study in China in four years.  3) Scholarship opportunity for seniors to study in Taiwan.  Talk to Ms. Chang for details. 4) Course recommendation: last 2 minutes.  5) Interested in leading a fashion show???

4.      Teach new characters (雙, 找, 像) with new terms (好像).

Procedure for MS 3P (2/8/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to showcase their mastery of basic greeting terms.  2) Students will be able to continue unit #2: numbers.  3) Chinese will be able to brainstorm ideas of art project by checking out more art project samples.

Homework: Review all learned terms.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian, Zhang Lao Shi, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi, Wu An, Wan An, Zao, Ni Zao, Zao An, Zao Shang Hao, Tong Xue Men Hao, Shang Ke, Xia Ke, Qi Li, Jing Li, Dong le ma, Qing Zuo).  2) Quiz #1.  3) Quick review of numbers (yi, er, san, si) with Chinese characters.  4) Quiz #2: Tuesday, 2/15.

2.      Teach new terms (wu, liu, qi, ba) with Chinese characters.

3.      Showcase art project samples (5 PPTs, craft pictures, drawing samples).

4.      Listening activity: music for numbers 1-7.

Procedure for MS 5P (2/8/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to celebrate Chinese New Year by visiting other FL classrooms to sing a Happy New Year song, to build a sense of community, and to introduce Chinese New Year’s traditions.  2) Students will be able to finish up oral presentation.

Homework: Study for audacity and chapter test.

Procedure:

1.      Song time / lineup (greetings + handing out red envelopes)—Mrs. Boyne + Mr. Moore / show time.  Quiet in the hallway.

2.      1) Check out news about President Obama’s “One Hundred Thousand Strong” initiative—to 100,000 Americans to study in China in four years.  2) Scholarship opportunity for seniors to study in Taiwan.  Counselor opportunities in OFLA camp.  3) Course recommendation.

3.      Oral presentation (Keiichi, Ted, Brandon H., Paige, Jacqueline).

4.      Assessment: Round robin reading.

5.      Brainstorming: Skit time (introducing each other and inquiring each other’s family information).
