Procedures for 3/11/11

Homeroom (3/11/11)

Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011.  OGT week lasts from Monday, 3/14, to Friday, 3/18.  Be sure to report to your homeroom on time for your OGT at 7:25 AM.

Have enough sleep, eat your breakfast (simple breakfast will be provided at cafeteria) and take your OGT very seriously.  You have to pass 73% in all five tests to graduate with a diploma!! Read these sleep tips from Harvard to get a good night sleep!!

Procedure for HS 1P (3/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to name various countries, languages and citizenships.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their listening and speaking skills.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Practice reading text passages on page 66-67.  Round robin reading text passages starting from next Monday.  3) WB page 51.

Procedure:

  1. 1) OGT week: 3/14/11-3/18/11.  Revised schedule all next week.  2) Quick review (中國, 中文, 中國人, 美國, 美國人, 英國, 英國人, 英文, 美人, 國家, 加拿大, 加拿大人, 日本, 日本人, 日文, 會, 拿, 説).  3) Makeup work (Troy, Darian).
  2. Teach new characters (德, 裡,咦) with terms (德國, 德文, 德國人, 哪裡, “哪裡, 哪裡”, 這裡, 那裡).
  3. Conversation quiz / Seat Work: WB page 41 / Write two sentences about your nationality and language skills.

Procedure for HS 2P (3/11/11)

目標: Students will be able to showcase their mastery of Lesson Two material.

功課: Study for Chapter test: listening and reading sections.

程序:

  1. 1) OGT week: 3/14/11-3/18/11.  Revised schedule all next week.  2) Turn in Lesson Two characters worksheet today or next Monday.  3) Questions?
  2. Lesson Two chapter test (writing section only).

 

Procedure for HS 9P (3/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to express opinions in different degrees.  2) Students will be able to name various items and places.

功課: 1) Write seven sentences with terms (非常, 很, 不太, 不, 一點也不/一點不).  2) Write new characters.  3) Practice reading text passages.  Round robin reading next week.

Procedure:

  1. 1) OGT week: 3/14/11-3/18/11.  Revised schedule all next week.  2) Quick review (帽子, 香蕉, 橘子, 鳳梨, 蘋果, 水果, 百貨公司, 便宜, 地圖, 草莓, 貴, 荔枝, 市場, 可是, 不錯, 書店, 字典, 一共, 雜誌, 報紙, 葡萄).
    1. Teach new terms (甜, 酸, 非, 常, 串) with terms (非常, 常常, 不常).
  2. Go over terms of various degrees (非常, 很, 不太, 不, 一點也不/一點不) with examples.  Ms. Chang e-mailed you’re today’s class notes already.
  3. Lesson Four quiz #2.  / Ms. Chang collects your WB page 40.

Procedure for MS 3P (3/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to complete basic greeting terms.  2) Students will be able to know upcoming projects and class activities.  3) Students will be able to learn simple Chinese characters.

Homework: 1) Review all learned characters and greeting terms.  2) Complete your Chinese characters writing assignment.  Due next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Due to OGT and delayed start at HS, Ms. Chang will finish my HS teaching at 10:30 or 11:00 AM and won’t be able to make it for MS 3P class.  Mrs. Ludwick will cover Ms. Chang class for the entire next week.  2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zhang Lao Shi, Zao, Zao An, Zao Shang Hao, Ni Zao, Wu An, Wan An, Zai Jian, Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, 日, 月, 山, 木, 人).
  2. 1) Teach new terms (Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi, Shang Ke, Xia Ke, Qi Li, Jian Li, Zuo Xia, Qing Zuo).  2) Teach Chinese characters (火, 水, 口).
  3. Introduce plans for next week (writing a skit, completing a China reading packet, cutting paper patterns, reading culture packets, watching DVDs, practice holding chopsticks, etc).
  4. Briefly introduce China reading packet.

Procedure for MS 5P (3/11/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to name various countries, languages and citizenships.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their listening and speaking skills.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Practice reading text passages on page 66-67.  Round robin reading text passages starting from next Monday.  3) WB page 51.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return papers.  2) Quick review (中國, 中文, 中國人, 美國, 美國人, 英國, 英國人, 英文, 美人, 國家, 加拿大, 加拿大人, 日本, 日本人, 日文, 會, 拿, 説).  3) Compress pictures.
  2. Teach new characters (德, 裡, 點, 咦, 問) with terms (德國, 德文, 德國人, 哪裡, “哪裡, 哪裡”, 這裡, 那裡, 一點, 請問, 美德, 問ti2, yi4 si).
  3. 1) Practice conversation questions.  2) Write two sentences about your nationality/citizenship and your language skill.
