Procedures for 3/14/11

Procedure for HS 1P (3/14/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to name countries, describe their own nationality and language skill.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their site reading and speaking skills. 

Homework: 1) Write Chinese characters.  2) Practice reading text passages on pages 66-69. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks WB page 51.  Go over the answer key.  2) Quick review (中國, 中文, 中國人, 美國, 美國人, 英國, 英國人, 英文, 美人, 國家, 加拿大, 加拿大人, 日本, 日本人, 日文, 德國, 德文, 德國人, 哪裡, “哪裡, 哪裡”, 這裡, 那裡, 會, 拿, 説).  3) Return papers.  4) Makeup work (Shaina).  5) Round robin reading on this Thursday, 3/17.  Audacity recording: Monday, 3/21 at media center.
  2. Teach new characters (澳, 洲, 對/对, 起, 得) with terms (澳洲, 澳洲人, 美洲, 對不起, 對, 不對).
  3. Read text passages on pages 66-69.   

Procedure for HS 2P (3/14/11)

目標: Students will be able to showcase their mastery of Lesson Two material.

功課: Lesson Three characters definitions.

程序:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Lesson Three characters worksheet.  2) Turn in your Lesson Two characters worksheet.  3) Makeup test (Cecilia).  Alex, Kaitlyn and Josiah talk to Ms. Chang after class.
    1. Lesson Two chapter test (Reading listening section).   

Procedure for HS 9P (3/14/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to review frequently used counting words.  2) Students will be able to gain oral fluency (sophomore can turn it in on Wednesday). 

功課: WB page 44

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your 7-sentence assignment.  2) Return papers.  3) Feedback from grading your work:  Pay attention to counting words, ways to express money, i.e., 一塊兩毛ó 一塊二; 百 ó 白).  4) Makeup work (Michaela, Anthony, Antonio).  Anthony / Melissa talks to Ms. Chang after class, please. 
  2. Teach new characters (份, 斤, 磅, 袋, 本) with various counting words (份, 本, 串, 個, 斤, 磅, 袋, 枝, 頂).  2) Review terms (還要什麼 ó 不要了).  3) Review adverbs (很, 非常, 太).   

Procedure for MS 3P (3/14/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to gain geographical knowledge about China.  2) Students will be able to apply basic greeting terms to create a skit.

Homework: 1) Complete China reading packet.  Due tomorrow.  2) Review all learned greeting terms.

Procedure:

  1. Take attendance (seating chart and class roster are attached to clip board).
  2. Collect Chinese characters writing assignment.
  3. Allow students to quiz each other on the greeting terms they learned this past week (5 minutes).
  4. Pair activity: create a skit with a minimum of 7 different greeting terms.  For the students who wish to work in 3, they have to use at least 10 different terms.  6 different terms for individual work.  Give them about 20 minutes to finish this task.  Collect.  I will grade the papers and return to them tomorrow.
  5. Pass out China reading packet.  Remind them to write their name on the top of page 4.  Allow them to work in pairs or independently to complete all 17 questions (or you can have them read the entire packet as a class).  They are allowed to use the map on the blackboard or search for the answers on the Internet.  (hint/tip: China has a population of 6.3 billion people and worldwide population is 6.6 billion).  Due tomorrow.

Procedure for MS 5P (3/14/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to name countries, describe their own nationality and language skill.  2) Students will be able to sharpen their site reading and speaking skills.

  1. 1) Captains check WB page 51.  Go over the answer key.  2) Audacity recording: Friday, 3/18/11.  Lesson Eight text passages / new slide of your nationality and language skill.  3) Quick review (中國, 中文, 中國人, 美國, 美國人, 英國, 英國人, 英文, 美人, 國家, 加拿大, 加拿大人, 日本, 日本人, 日文, 德國, 德文, 德國人, 哪裡, “哪裡, 哪裡”, 這裡, 那裡, 會, 拿, 説).
  2. Teach new characters (澳, 洲, 對/对, 起, 得) with terms (澳洲, 澳洲人, 美洲, 對不起, 對, 不對).
  3. Read text passages on pages 66-69.  
  4. Pass out Ancient China Reading packet and two worksheets (Get Set to Read / Everything Visual and It’s in the Reading). 

Pair work: Complete Get Set to Read as homework tonight.  / Conversation questions quiz.
