Procedure for HS 1P (5/3/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to polish their listening, reading, and writing skills today.

Homework: WB page 67.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your 11-sentence paragraph.  2) Quick review (上學/学, 上班, 上網/网, 年級/级, 學/学校, 同學/学ó 學/学生, 同校, 同班, 校車/车, 眼睛, 耳朵, 鼻子, 眉毛, 頭/头, 頭髮/头发, 嘴巴=口, 臉/脸, 長/长, 短, 朋友).
  2. 1) Read text passages on pages 85-87.  2) 上… 年級/级, 同班, 同班同學/学).  3) Inviting someone to do something: 我們去 <verb > 好嗎 / 吧?  ó  好啊 / 對不起, 我不去.
  3. Sentence pattern: text page 89.
  4. Supplementary expressions: 1) 你幾歲  = 你多 (duō) 大; 2) 你上幾年級 你念 (niàn) 幾年級; 3) 他和我同班 <=> 他不和我同班  = 他和我不同班.  4) 他是我中文班同學。
  5. Go over skit checklist / skit cards.
  6. Pair work: Brainstorm your skit.

 

Procedure for HS 2P (5/3/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to talk about their preference of music and sports.  2) Students will be able to gain fluency in reading.   

Homework: Write new characters. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 37 (2nd half).  Go over the answer key.  2) Quick review (交響樂/响乐, 歌劇/剧, 歌劇/剧院, 排球, 橄欖/榄球, 比賽/赛, 球迷, 電視迷, 芭蕾舞, 跳舞).
  2. 1) Teach new characters (比, 賽/赛, 倆/俩, 芭, 蕾) with terms (比賽/赛, 賽跑, 球迷, 電視迷, 芭蕾舞, 跳舞).
  3. 1) Go over terms (每天, 每一天, 每星期, 每個/个月, 每年, 每個/个人, 每班, 每家) with sample sentences.
  4. 1) Read text passages on pages 42.  2) Conversation session: text page 45/WB page 29.

 

Procedure for HS 9P (5/3/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to sharpen their listening and writing skills. 

Homework: Study. 

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang collects your WB page 51 at the end of the class.  2) Makeup work (Benita).
  2. Listening activity: 1) WB page 54.  2) WB page 56.  3) Go over all answers.
  3. Go over text passage on page 74.  Explain terms (不用了, 回來 <=> 出去).
  4. Writing practice.

 

Procedure for MS 3P (5/3/11)

Objectives: Students will be able to learn simple greeting terms.   

Homework: Review learned terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your China reading packet and signature slip, please.  2) No Exploratory Chinese class tomorrow.  Friday we’ll move to room 221.  3) Check ProgressBook for accuracy, please.
  2. 1) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian, Xie Xie).  2) Teach new terms (Zhang Lao Shi, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Wu An Wan An).  3) Practice session (Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi). 
  3. Go over Introduction to Hanyu Pinyin handout. 
  4. Pair practice: all learned terms. 

 

Procedure for MS 5P (5/3/11)

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to introduce their friends, to talk about the grade they are in, and to describe facial features.  2) Students will be able to apply what they learn to create a skit. 

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Draft your skit.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one copy of Skit checklist. 2) Quick review (朋友, 頭, 臉, 大/小/老/好/女/男朋友, 頭髮, 眼睛, 耳朵, 鼻子).  3) Friday we’ll move to room 221.  4) Check ProgressBook for accuracy, please.  5) Turn in your PPT draft or 11-sentence paragraph, if any.
  2. Learn new characters (眉, 嘴, 巴, 長, 短) with terms (眉毛, 嘴巴=口).
  3. 1) Go over Skit checklist / skit cards.  2) Get your copy of skit card.
  4. Pair work: skit preparation (brainstorm and draft skit).
