Procedures for 5/12/11

Procedure for HS 1P (5/12/11)

 

Objectives: Students will be able to apply their speaking skill in presenting a skit.  2) Students will be able to express their food preferences.

Homework: 1) Write new characters.  2) Practice your skit if you have not done so today.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks your Lesson Eleven characters definitions.  2) Makeup work (Claire: audacity, Voki, test, characters WS; Voki: Darian, Stefan, Jack; PPT draft: ; Skit: Troy/Darian; characters worksheet: Abdussamad, Darian).  3) Shaina/Annie talk to Ms. Chang after class, please.
  2. 1) Teach new characters (餓, 渴, 喝, 吃, 想) with terms (口渴, 喝水, 很餓, 很渴, 好餓, 好渴 // 1) 想 (helping verb) + verb => would like to verb; 想 (verb): miss.  2) 好 (adv) + adjective => so adjective).
  3. Skit presentation.

 

Procedure for HS 2P (5/12/11)

 

目標: Students will be able to express ideas/thoughts in comparative and superlative formats.

功課: 1) Write new characters.  2) WB page 34.  3) Practice reading page 43.

程序:

  1. 1) Ms. Chang checks WB page 31.  2) Go over answer key.  3) Read text page 43.  4) Conversation quiz (WB page 33) and round robin reading tomorrow.
  2. Teach new character (比, 較/较, 更) with terms (比較/较).
  3. Teach sentence pattern: page 49 (A 比較/较 < adj 1 > / B 比較/较 < adj 2 >; A 比 B < adj >).
  4. Go over WB page 34.  Complete as homework tonight.

 

Procedure for HS 9P (5/12/11)

 

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to their listening comprehension.  2) Students will be able to hold a conversation when they dine out.

功課: Make 5 sentences (因為…所以, 常常, 剛好, 剛剛, 尤其). 

Procedure:

  1. Quick review (剛好, 剛剛, 飯館, 一起, 出去, 回來, 帶, 時間, 回家, 因為, 留下來).
  2. 1) Read text passage on page 93.  2) Teach new characters (邀, 常, 尤, 其, 飲) with terms (所以, 邀請, 常常, 時常, 不常, 平常, 尤其, 飲茶).
  3. Sentence patterns: 1) A打電話給B = A給B打電話.  2) 因為…所以.  3) 剛好.  4) 剛剛.   5) 尤其.  5) 常常, 時常, 不常, 平常.
  4. Conversation practice.
  5. Listening comprehension (Confucius Institute Happy Chinese website).

 

 

 

Procedure for MS 3P (5/12/11)

 

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to learn numbers 6-10.  2) Students will be able to brainstorm ideas about their art project.  3) Students will be able to gain cultural knowledge about Chinese traditional arts.

Homework: 1) Review learned numbers 1-10.  2) Complete Chinese characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (yi, er, san, si, wu) with Chinese characters.  2) Noah talks to Ms. Chang, please.  3) Quiz #1 tomorrow.
  2. 1) Teach new terms (liu, qi, ba, jiu, shi) with Chinese characters.  2) Song time.
  3. Showcase art project samples (PPT, movie, pictures).
  4. Culture reading: pages 4-6 with two publications.
  5. DVD: Chinese Civilizations and Arts (painting, calligraphy).

 

Procedure for MS 5P (5/12/11)

 

Objectives: 1) Students will be able to showcase their reading/oral fluency in making an audacity recording.  2) Students will be able to talk about and present themselves in a PPT project.

Homework: Practice your skit for next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Take one headset, one copy of highlighted Lesson Ten text passages and one procedure slip for today.  2) Make your audacity recording, name it as < last name > LessonTen.Wave and submit to MS5P folder under Ms. Chang’s folder in O drive.  Turn in your highlighted text passages with your name on it.  3) Skit/Checklist (Kate/Rachel L., Paige/Karli, Mike/Keiichi, Kyle/Kerem).
  2. Expand your PPT to include your birthday and 10 sentences about your physical appearance.  If possible, add sentences for your friend (name, age, grade, physical appearance).  Insert any pictures and/or clip art.  Print out in handout format and turn in your hard copy to Ms. Chang.
  3. Go to www.TreysChinaLife.blogspot.com to check out Trey’s recent adventure.
  4. Go to P drive and click Ni Hao 1 game to review Lesson Ten.
  5. If you like, go to http://www.voki.com/create.php to experiment Voki for fun.  It is a project for tomorrow, though.  Get one copy of Voki Information sheet from Ms. Chang, please.
