Procedure for HS Chinese IV (12/12/11)—before and after school

目标 (MùBiāo): I can talk about vacation and plan traveling itinerary.

功课: 1) Write new characters.  2) WB page 74.

程序 (ChéngXù):

  1. 1) Quick review.  2) Listening activity: WB page 74.  Go over simple matching answer key.
  2. Teach new characters and terms (方, 計, 划/劃, 計划/劃 = 打算, 地方, 能 = 会/會 ó 不能, 可能 = 大概).
  3. Text pages 94-95.

Procedure for HS Chinese III (12/12/11)

目标 (MùBiāo): I can talk about modes of transport, distances, travel times, as well as give direction.

功课: 1) Write new characters.  2) Tissue box building project due: Friday, 12/26/11.  3) WB page 25.

程序 (ChéngXù):

  1. 1) Take one copy of tissue box building project handout.  2) Go over handout.  3) Showcase sample work/pictures.  4) Sign up your building.  5) Makeup work (Cait, Claire, Antonio).
  2. 1) Quick review.  2) Teach new characters with terms (坐 ó 作 ó 做, 火, 汽 ó 气/氣, 坐下, 请/請坐, 作业/業, 做功课/課, 火山, 火车/車, 汽水, 汽车/車, 公共汽车/車, 天气/氣).  3) Go over text passages on pages 28-31.
  3. Sentence pattern practice.



Procedure for MS Chinese I 2P/7P (12/12/11)

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of Lesson Five material.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese calligraphy and Chinese early inventions.

Homework: 1) Lesson Six character definitions.  2) Practice reading text passages for audacity recording.  3) Review back nasal sounds and culture reading on pages 41-42.


  1. 1) Turn in your Lesson Five character worksheet.  2) Take one copy of Lesson Six character worksheet.  3) Makeup work (2P: Alex R—WB pages + Review Sounds 2; Jonah: Skit; 7P: Jennifer: Front nasal sounds quiz + WB pages 27-29/31; Noah: Compound Vowel quiz).  4) For audacity recording, 2P students work at media center Tuesday & 7P students work at media center Wednesday.  5) Review Sounds2 oral quiz: Friday, 12/16/11.
  2. Lesson Five chapter test.  2) Work on your definition and show it to Ms. Chang.  Otherwise 2P students need to bring your definitions to media center tomorrow
  3. Individual study: Culture reading: pages 41-42.



Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (12/12/11)

Objectives: 1) I can count from zero to one hundred in Chinese.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese calligraphy and early inventions.  3) I can explore Chinese finger guessing game.

Homework: 1) Review learned syllables, characters and counting principle.  Connecting the dots quiz Thursday.  2) Quiz #2: Friday, 12/16/11.


  1. 1) Makeup work (3P: Lauren—2 paper patterns + quiz #1; 5P: Owen Stahl—2 paper patterns + quiz #1).  2) Quick review.  3) Pass out number table.
  2. 1) Learn Chinese counting principle.  2) Counting from zero to 100.
  3. 1) Culture reading: Finger guessing game.  2) Culture reading: Chinese calligraphy and early invention.
