Procedures for 3/22/12

Procedure for HS Chinese III (3/22/12)

目标 (MùBiāo): 1) I can sight read sentences fluently.  2) I can create interview questions.

功课: Study for Lesson Six Quiz #1 (vocabulary + 6 comparison sentences): Monday, 3/26/12. 2)

程序 (ChéngXù):

  1. 1) Get your WB.  Makeup work (Antonio, Collin, Aashna).  2) Turn in your 3-sentence writing assignment.  3) Go over common mistakes.  4) Introduce a new website for your Chinese input,  4) Round robin reading: page 62.
  2. Pair or independent work: Guest speakers coming next Friday.  They will talk about themselves.  Compose at least 4 questions for our guests.  Collect for participation grade.

Procedure for MS Chinese I 2P/7P (3/22/12)

Objectives: 1) I can build sentences and expand my PPT file.  2) I can gain linguistic and cultural knowledge through watching various video clips.  3) I can sharpen my listening skill through listening to audio files.

Homework: Review learned terms.


  1. 1) With your PPT checklist as a reference, add new sentences / edit existing sentences / insert pictures into your current file.  1) Use the following editor: and click Type Chinese from the middle of left-hand menu.  When a window pops up, you click either Mandarin Pinyin – Simplified or Mandarin Pinyin – Traditional.  You then enter pinyin and select appropriate character.  2) To format pictures, right click any pictures in your PPT file, a menu will pop up.  Click format picture (bottom), and when another pop-up window shows, click compress (lower left), then click All pictures in document and OK, Apply and OK to exit out the menu.
  2. Log onto the following links for video clip: 1) Being Chinese, Speaking Chinese,  2) Home and Family,
  3. Log onto the following links for audio files: 1) How are you?,  2) What nationality are you?,  3) This is my friend.

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (3/22/12)

Objectives: 1) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese lucky/unlucky numbers.  2) I can explore and try Chinese version of Rock, Scissors and Paper game. 3) I can create origami products.

Homework: 1) Study for quiz #2 on Monday, 3/26/12.  2) Writing assignment due: Monday, 3/26/12.  3) Quiz #3: Monday, 4/2/12.


  1. 1) Quick review (yi, er, san, si, wu, liu, qi, ba, jiu, shi, ling, bai, ri, yue, shan, mu, shui, huo, ren, kou).  2) Pass out number table.
  2. Culture reading: Lucky and unlucky numbers / Finger guessing game.
  3. Class activity: Finish origami products (pinwheel and gift box).  Check for participation grades.
