Procedure for HS 1P Chinese III (9/14/12)

目标: 1) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.  2) I can write grammatically correct Chinese sentences.  3) I can describe weather.

功课: Study for your Ni Hao One review exam (written and oral)—1) oral test on Wednesday, 9/19/12 and Thursday, 9/20/12.  Randomly selected pairs for 4 questions for a total of 20 points, writing test on 9/21/12, including listening, reading and writing.

程序:

  1. 1) Pass out homework pass for the students whose parents came to open house.  2) Ms. Chang checks WB pages 78-79.
  2. 1) Writing practice.  2) Simple oral and writing questions about 天气。
  3. 1) Return key question words papers.  2) Class activity: Oral questions Q/A.

 

Procedure for MS 2P/7P Chinese I (9/14/12)

 

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of basic greeting terms, and cultural, and geographical knowledge about China.  2) I can say numbers in Chinese.

Homework: Three three character definitions due on Monday, 9/17/12.

Procedure:

  2. Play DVD: Beijing Makeover.

Homework: 1) Complete rows of Chinese characters.  2) Review learned number terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) (3P) Return papers.  2) Quick review (numbers + greeting terms).  Quiz #2 (numbers + 8 picture Chinese characters): Friday, 9/21/12.  3) Quiz #1.
  2. 1) Teach numbers (wu, liu, qi, ba).  2) Play number CD.  2) Class activity: complete double happiness paper pattern.

Homework: 1) Complete rows of characters.  2) Review greeting terms handout, China reading packet and text pages 1-6 for exam tomorrow.  3) Write down definitions of all Chinese three new characters on your WS.

Procedure:

1.   1) DVD: Paper cut (剪纸).  2) Teach consonant f.  3) (2P only) Quick review (26 terms + 8 Chinese characters + consonant m).

2.   1) Pass out / go over Lesson Three character worksheet + number table.  2) Teach characters (yi, er, san, si).  3) Pass out / go over Stroke order handout.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Collect character writing assignment, if any.  2) Quick review (26 terms + 8 characters).
  2. 1) Pass out square papers and number table.  2) Teach numbers and write characters (yi, er, san, si).
  3. Class activity: cutting longevity paper pattern.  Save for tomorrow.  Count as participation grade.

  2. 1)   Pass out / go over study guide for Pinyin + Introduction to China unit text.  2) Complete DVD: Chinese calligraphy.  3) Showcase Chinese publications, seals, and stationary items for Chinese calligraphy (with pinyin + Chinese characters).  4) Quick review / dictation (26 terms + b, p + 8 characters).

Objectives: 1) I can acquire cultural knowledge about and explore Chinese folk art of paper cutting.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese pronunciation.  3) (5P) I can use chopsticks to pick up food.

Homework: 1) Review learned greeting terms and Chinese characters.  2) Character writing assignment due tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1.      1) Quick review (26 terms + 8 Chinese characters).  2) Culture reading: text pages 5-6.  3) Showcase Chinese publications, Chinese seals, and stationary items for calligraphy.  4) Teach (水, 火).  5) (5P) Chopsticks practice.

Return/Turn in China reading packet (Stephen, Amari + Keaton).  Book Inventory: Amari.  3) Introduce future activities: finalizing your Chinese name, celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese painting class, field trip, etc.

2.   1) Quick review + dictation (22/26 terms, b, p).  3) (2P) Teach new terms (Dui Bu Qi, Mei Guan Xi, Shang Ke, Xia Ke).  3) (2P) Teach Chinese characters (口, 火, 水).  / (7P) Teach Chinese characters (人, 口, 火, 水).
