Procedure for HS 1P Chinese III (1/30/13)

目标: 1) I can give and follow directions to get to places.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about China through viewing a movie.  3) I can prepare for Amazing Race by practicing major tasks.

功课: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) WB page 34.  3) Instructions to origami tasks (pinwheel / ??) will be e-mailed to you.  Let Ms. Chang know your choice by the end of the class period.


  1. 1) Lunar New Year Celebration as Asian Town Center from 11 am to 5 pm on 2/9 and 2/10.  2) Complete grouping your members by the end of this Friday.  Fill out stuff your group will bring in on/before 2/4/13.  3) Circulate origami choices.  Finalize your choice, please.  4) Captains check WB page 35.  Go over answer key.
  2. 1) Teach new characters / terms (邮, 局, 邮局, 邮差, 站, 公共汽车站, 校车站, 火车站, 礼, 堂, 礼堂, 天堂).  2) Teach sentence pattern / quick review ((这里) 到 (place) 怎么走?, < place 1 > 到 < place 2 > 怎么走?)
  3. Movie time.


Procedure for MS 2P/7P Chinese I (1/30/13)


Objectives: 1) I can talk about my pets.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about China through viewing a movie.

Homework: 1) Character writing assignment.  2) WB pages 42 + 44 (Section D).


  1. 1) Song time—Happy Chinese New Year.  Pay $1 for you Chinese Club’s read envelopes.  2) Quick review (猫, 狗, 鸟, 金, 鱼, 金子).  3) (2P) Go over common PPT mistakes.
  2. 1) Teach new characters (只, 匹, 条, 大, 小, 马).  2) Compare key words (马, 吗, 妈, 几, 谁, 谁的, 什么, 呢).
  3. Movie time.


Procedure for MS 3P/5P Exploratory Chinese (1/30/13)


Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms.  2) I can acquire historical, geographical, and cultural knowledge about China and major cities in China.  3) I can utilize Ms. Chang’s daily blog.

Homework: 1) Review 3 learned terms.  2) Quiz #1: 2/13/13.


  1. 1) Any signature slip?  Makeup work (3P: Maria).  2) DVD: Beijing / Shanghai / Chongqing.  3) (5P) Ms. Chang’s daily blog.
  2. Pair activity / independent work: complete China reading packet.  Collect at the end of the class period.
  3. Pass out greetings terms handout / teach 1 basic greeting term (Ni Hao).
