Procedures for 2/7/13

Procedure for HS 1P Chinese III (2/7/13)

目标: 1) I can showcase my mastery of comprehending the movie, “Mao’s Last Dancer.”  2) I can explore Chinese cultural enrichment activities.

功课: 1) Study for your chapter test.  2) Study recipes for tomorrow’s cooking lesson.


  1. 1) Check your e-mail for your Movie Unit Assessment document.  If you cannot open your e-mail account, ask Ms. Chang for a hard copy.  2) Respond to the questions with your answer and e-mail your work back to Ms. Chang by the end of the class period.  The time stamp of your file decides whether I will accept it or not.



Procedure for MS 2P/7P Chinese I (2/7/13)


Objectives: 1) I can prepare for the Chinese New Year celebration activities.  2) I can read text passages fluently.  3) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.  4) I can use various sentence patterns to express same idea.  5) I can compare and contrast cultural differences between America and China through watching a movie.

Homework: 1) (2P) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Practice conversation questions.  3) Movie Discussion Questions due tomorrow.  4) Pet paragraph due tomorrow.


  1. 1) Collect cooking supplies.  2) Movie time.  3) (2P) Go over pet paragraph.
  2. 1) (7P) Read text passages.  2) (2P) Teach new character (真, 很,它,都). 3) Teach sentence patterns (是/有…吗? => 是不是….? 有没有…? + moving objects from beginning to the end or vice versa).
  3. (7P) Skit preparation.



Procedure for MS 3P/5P Exploratory Chinese (2/7/13)

Objectives: 1) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms.  2) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese characters and pronunciation through reading and video clips.  3) I can write simple Chinese picture characters.

Homework: 1) Review 18 terms + 8 / 6 characters.  2) Complete Chinese character writing assignment.  Due (3P) on Friday (5P) Monday, 2/11.


  1. 1) Quick review (3P: 14 terms + 6 characters; 5P: 14 terms + 3 characters).  2) Teach new terms (Wu An, Wan An, Shang Ke, Xia Ke).
  2. 1) (5P) DVD: Chinese characters (tree, mountain, mouth).  3) Teach Chinese characters (3P: shui, huo; 5P: tree, mountain, mouth).
  3. Pass out / go over paper patterns.  Cut paper patterns.
